After furhter review, I have a question.
Is it really an accopmlishment to walk 26 miles?
I mean there is no doubt that to struggle through the 26 mile distnce and finish is a noble cause, but is it really so special if you're walking at the 13 mile mark? I mean to not be able to complete half the distance in something resmbling at least a jog seems to me as if you just plain did not do your homework. I can understand that some who may be ready will have off days, but I am watching hundreds and hundreds of walkers. I don't get it. Seems like they should be trying to finish a half marathon first.
That said, the crowds were overwhelmingly huge as the weather here today is superb for this time of year Totally cool to see so many people here kicking positive vibrations out to strangers. Gives me some hope.
anybody remember cool word?
I remember A Brave New World. Very odd book.
Huxley wrote another book much more interesting (and relevant to this sort of errr community...) than Brave New World.
Check out Doors of Perception. A cool read.
At like whistler it was like on the last mile and they were fucking runing like a bat out of hell drenched in sweat I was impressed. I ran to the gondola house and passed out.
that is my favorite book of all time.Quote:

what is doors of perception about?
Never read the book, but isn't that where Jim Morrison got the name of his band?
Tallys in toady's Chicago Tribune estimate that there were 1 million people lining the route of the race, myslef included. There were an unkown number of dogs.
Yes.Quote:

Not the band Yes, the word yes.
Ah, you're bringing back memories. I remember getting dry-humped in... I mean, I ran the Chicago marathon in '97. Great course 'cause it's pretty much flat except for the Lakeshore Drive on-ramp. The crowd was crazy, especially in Lincoln Park on those narrow residential streets. It felt sort of like wearing the yellow jersey in the Alps with the crowd pressing in. Or something like that.
