I think I used TaxAct last year and don't remember any issues, which means I was probably pretty happy.

i'm using turbotax which has served me well for the last 7 years. :D
Seriously? Get an accountant. I used Turbo Tax for years and finally got an accountant. The net difference (including his fees) was staggering.

I'm morally opposed to forcing someone to do something as boring as accounting.
My taxes are pretty simple so i just use turbo tax online. Its quick and easy and you can setup direct deposit so the $$ goes directly into your account. If they are more complex, go see an accountant.

I have minimal deductions at this point, so an accountant would be a waste for me.
PS, if you're a State Farm customer (in any capacity) you can use TurboTax Deluxe online for free, including eFile and I think State too. You have to go through the SF link though, from start to finish and in-between.

You need to start through this link, whether or not you have an existing TT account. Also, if you quit and save in TT, when you log back in, you have to go through the State Farm link. If you don't, you'll end up getting charged and will have to call to get a credit. I can tell you from experience that during tax time, getting through to an actual person takes a loooonnnngggg time.
i use freetaxusa.com. Got their link off the irs website a couple years back.
Turbo Tax...used H&R Block for years...then I figured out that the software BLOWS. It's really buggy and f'd me pretty good cause it doesn't walk you thru certain thing the way it should (claiming children). Turbo Tax is great, walks you thru smoothly. If you make less than 52K you can get software for free at IRS.com

Just finished up using Taxact for my third consecutive year. Used to use an accountant but I found that I understand my tax situation a lot better when I do this stuff myself.
Taxact with a few simple googles to get you the information you need from the federal and state IRS sites works really well.
Plus (full disclosure ;)) a good friends wife slaves for tax act and she is da bomb' -she worked 84 hours last week making sure peoples returns go through smoothly and she still found the time to drink a beer with us.
