Bad luck. Go to symantec's web site and download the removal tool. You may need to patch your PC using Windows Update too.
Thanks, roo. Looked it up this morning:

The cleanup is going to be icky. It'll be like I'm actually working again. I'll get after it manana...
I had to have my hard drive formatted last weekend due to my virus killer erasing a bunch of exe files. I loaded a new copy of Windows XP up, connected it to the web to update my virus definitions and by the time they'd arrived I already had MSBlast, Welchia and one other unnamed worm.
Virus writers can go suck a big one.
I was so stoked to find out my antiquated 98 was not on the sasser list ofaffected software.
I wonder how many viri are written by programmers at Norton and McAfee?
A writer in the Washington Post magazine this past Sunday was speculating on that very topic. I mean, if there are no viruses, they're out of business, right?Quote:

Kinda reminds me of the Random Chas Factor pulling parts off cars at the auction he worked at as a security guard. "Theft is going through the roof. You need to extend your guarded hours."
Worked a treat.
A kicked sack is a hacky sack.
On this topic, does everyone pay Semantec the $29 / year they want to supply you with the fixes to these viruses??? I haven't updated my virus protection in a while because I didn't feel like payin the punks, but I'm starting to get a little nervous. What does everyone else out there do?
I don't use virus protection because I like to live on the edge.Quote:

If you haven't updated your virus definitions in the past 6 months, you might as well not be running AV software. Of course, that's easy for me to say because I've got access to a site license.Quote:

I've got a number of those sorts from my ISP and other 'official' sources. They're not! It's just virus writers using another ruse to get you to open shit. My ISP assures me they would never send an attachment. If they're something they want me to have they'll direct me to their web site to get it. I'm sure yahoo is the same.Quote:

for anti-virus software try:
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php
It's free for personal use. No ads or nags and it works. But like all the other anti-virus software out there, you must update it frequently to catch the newest nasties.
I recall seeing viriae before, but viruses is so common as to become the de facto standard.Quote:
