Twin tips hook on crusty snow, are a pain in the ass to stick in the snow vertically, and can't cut a reutchblock for shit. That said, I haven't found the desire to put a table saw to my expensive volkls.Quote:

If you dont use your twin tips, try it. I wouldnt because I like the ability to go backwards and forwards in tight situations, but it is up to you.

have a good buddy that trimmed about 3 cm off of his 05/06 gotamas (all black, huge twins), he likes them more like that, haven't been tempted to do that to mine

i've cut my gotamas ... they work a lot better without the stupid tail.
I've cut ski tails before also. I put the ski in the vise close to the desired cut and used a hacksaw. It cut through just fine... no seperations or delams. It took about 10 minutes....no regrets, no problems.
I rounded my cut , and cleaned it up nice with a file. It looked factory except for the graphics. I was going to coat the cut with epoxy to seal it, but it didn't seem necessary.

Got bored and cut some swallow tails in my AK launchers over the summer. Only skiied them once since, but I imagined I felt a difference.
I always think about hacking one into the goats when they've finally had about enough.

Sorry no pics available. The ski I cut was a Dynastar with an annoying square tail. I liked it alot after cutting.Quote:

Seriously - I skied on skis that didn't have twins for a long time and once I got 'em, I discovered what they're really for. They are NOT for going down some lame drainage ditch that is mis-named "Pipe". They are NOT for skiing around backwards (If someone saw you walking around backwards all the time they'd turn you around or have you committed.)
They are for backing up when you get your ass all stuck in the chutes, trees, rocks, and bad stuff. They are really very cool for that.
Of course you have to say: "Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep" while backing up, it's an OSHA regulation!
