Skiing over spring Break

I am planning a ski trip for a roommate and myself. It would be around March 10-14th. I would like to ski for 2 full days. Night skiing is a plus. We are planning on flying. I would like to keep the costs around 800 and not exceed 1,000. The cheaper the better....more bar money. Would it be worth it to drive from MN. Any input would be golden. Colorado is still a possibility but I may be inclined to try Montana, Utah, etc. That and I just got back from skiing in breck. Thanks for the input guys. How old do you have to be to rent a car? 21?

been to south lake tahoe twice for "spring break," heavenly has some good stuff. check out the green lantern motel. it's a 2 min walk to the gondola, the casino bars, and taco bell. when i stayed it was $32 a night, has a hot tub as well.

you gotta be 25 to rent a car, there has to be some sort of shuttle service from the reno airport to south lake tahoe though.

You have to be 21 to rent a car if you're not going through insurance. You have to be 25 only for some agencies. It's also cheaper if you're 25 or older.

If you're driving, just go where the snow is. Plan that shit a week beforehand. Places with rad skiing (Telluride, CB, Taos, Aspen, Jackson, Montana, etc.) tend to have hostels all over the place. I would like to take this moment to say that Taos is really really cool.

I've gotta agree with DD on this...don't plan too far in advance. I've planned a week before the past few years, and it has turned out cheaper than my long-planned adventures. I generally try to get in 4 days of skiing, and driving will not allow this. Whatever you do, don't go to South Lake Tahoe for spring break...It's always crappy weather the first couple weeks in March.:D

they lie! you can rent a car at 18 from enterprise or avis (i believe those are the two, maybe buget). they will charge you a fee for being under 21 and a smaller fee for being under 25. I rented a car a twice when I was 21 by myself. I would say Jackson! Utah is great but you would be saving your beer money for multiple wives instead of multiple rounds...dont know anything about montana sorry

Looks like about 1200 miles to drive from Minnesota to Jackson, that seems pretty brutal to me for 4 days of vacation \ 2 days of skiing, but others might disagree. So if you're flying then you gotta plan in advance, fly to Jackson. If the snow is bad at the resort you could always ski the Grand or Mount Moran.
