Observed Slide, Freemont Pass Area Colo

Heads up guys and gals, observed slide Hwy 91 North of Climax Mine Ops at Freemont Pass between Copper Mountain and Leadville CO.

N or NE aspect visable from parking area Mile marker 14 Hwy 91.

above treeline, about 100ft at crown /fracture run 200 to 300 feet, this is on a peak very close to the hwy. Many bc areas with visable tracks in area of this slide (5mi radius), so be on your best watch, not sure of elevation but like i said above treeline with debri pile at treeline.

dont know what triggered. there are visable snomobile tracks 100 to 200 feet to the left of the slide path. no tracks near crown or fracture or on sides of slide

i was on snow in oct in area south of Climax mine and there are obvious weak base layers.

a little better pin pointing of location, i was by there again today

appears to be N NE aspect on Chaulk Mountain

visable from "Point of Interest Parking Lot" at mile marker 13 Hwy 91

same mountain White Mountain Tours is tooling around with snowmobiles

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to look for that on my drive home Thursday. Was thinking about maybe doing a short solo tour in that general area (though definitely wouldn't touch a N-NE aspect above treeline solo or so close to a decent snowfall).
