Mustang Powder TR - Dec. 10-11/07
Yeah, this cat skiing thing can get very addictive. ;)
Even though we are already booked into Valhalla with various maggots and friends, Eldereldo and I decided to do a couple of days at Nick & Ali's Mustang Powder. Couldn't resist the standby rate of $350 a day.
First day was bluebird with clouds in the valley. Spectacular views and a couple of feet of new snow since the pineapple express went through about a week ago.

It was tough getting many good action pix this trip. Touchy avalanche conditions meant the guides didn't want me stopping halfway down a slope to set up. So mostly low angle photos and scenics.
Eldereldo enjoying the snow and good viz.

Cody drops a knee. Our snowcat had one tele skier, two boarders, including me, and the rest skiers.

EE and I went first this run, and then we watched people unsuccessfully trying to spoon our turns in some sort of weird heliski-esque ritual. :D

Lead guide Colin, left, and owner Nick.

Colin: "Follow me to the left because there's a cliff on the right."
Eldereldo (looking to huck): "How big a cliff?"
Colin: "About a thousand feet."
EE: "Okay, left it is."
Nick's daughter, who I think is 9 years old. Home schooled up at the lodge. Quite possibly the luckiest kid in the world.

One of many awesome lines we had that just skirted the most dangerous snow.

Late in the afternoon the sun started to set and the clouds filled the valleys even more, making for some dramatic lighting.

Brenda, a cool woman from Winnipeg who couldn't talk her gal pals into a cat skiing trip. So she ditched her hubby and the kids to go cat skiing by herself for four days. Smart woman!

Dropping into the clouds for a final run.

Day 2 was cloudy, and while I got some powder pix, they don't quite compare, so I will leave it at that.
Some great turns, and hoping for more of the same real soon.
