Shop Guys- Din relationship to boot length and 1 question

I know there is a chart based on skier type, skier weight, etc. and then the recommended din setting. One of the variables is the ski boot sole length. So if you go down in boot size, does the din go up or down (all of the other factors the same?)

Also is is safe to have a heel setting higher than the toe setting (1/2 or 1 setting not dramatic)? The reason I ask is many times I can lean forward on my skis and have the heel release or almost come close to a full release. I ski Look (Rossi) on 2 pair of skis and I am 6 foot so the force of being far forward (like on a start/push off) or just flexing and stretching if they are set at the shop chart. I don't want to risk any major knee damage so if I have the toe piece left at the settings from the shop and slowly crank up the heel piece 1/2 at a time until the release does not happen, am I OK with this?

Smaller boot -> higher DIN setting

The DIN is based on a moment being applied if I remember correctly. A smaller boot leads to a shorter arm, and the retention force needs to go up to hold the same moment.

Based on the chart- I went from a 320 boot to a 312 boot last year- and both are still in the same range. Chart lists 311-330 for column 5 and right at the edge of the K/L weight (at least 1.5 months back when I had my weight checked last) but at a L for the height range.

Look at it as your skiing weight. Gear and all you will probably move up to the next category.

I wondered about that too- if shops take this as dressed for skiing weight or if the chart in fact takes into account the average added weight of ski boots, jacket and layers etc. I figured the shop has to worry about that though.

Funny, I look at that chart and I cannot figure out were I am (doesn't go high enough).
There must be a bigger chart somewhere.
I'm 275# with gear and 6ft tall with a 335 boot sole. Currently I ski at 8.5 and have been happy with it, just can't see it on this chart.

I think they tell you to use your height OR weight, whichever puts you in the lower group, and go with that. As a "normal" skier you would be at 5.75. Two levels up from that (if you are a very aggressive skier), you're at 8.25. But there's probably more nuances to this than just that.
