To make this more of a "Trip report" here's a few suggestions for Kauai.
-Go straight to Anini beach. $3 a night.
-Put all camping supplies in a cooler and check it through. You'll need that cooler for all the beer and fresh Ahi.
-Find the fish market in Kilaweia. Get two Ahi Burritos, one for there and one for later.
- Go to the Princeville golf and spa, get a week long membership ($60 a person), hot tubs, showers include towels, shampoo/soap/conditioner, a gym, yoga classes, etc. this proves to be essential while camping!
-(LOCAL SECRET) Friday and monday night there's sushi in the dinning room at Princeville. It's a great price, but doesn't have a sushi restaurant feel to it. make friends with the bartender "Steve", he makes for good conversation and makes stiff drinks. (monday they show surf films)
-surfing in Hanalei is cool. if you're novice, start at the pier, then go left to "Pavilion", the next life guard station after that is called Pine Trees (next to the pine trees) this break is where the localism starts to rear its ugly head. so know your roll.
If you're more of an experienced surfer than myself, "middles" and "the point", looked super fun. and all those breaks are just in the bay.
-Na Pali coast is sick for hiking. we only went to hanakapia beach which is about an hour one way, and it's a nice taste without killing yourself. If you go all the way to the end, there's a bunch of gnarly hippies that have a bunch of weed and a pizza oven. I was told that if you bring a bottle of liquor and a carton of cigarettes, you'll be the king of the gnarly hippies (not one of my personal goals)
I hear that there's plenty of other fun things to do on the Island, but we stuck near Hanalei for the whole time.

Cool shots. I wish they were bigger.
Who does your Holga processing?
-
just click on them and you'll get a larger version.
I get them processed at Broadway photo in jackson
-
Cool beans. I watched some of the prelim heats in Haleiwa. I was also in Kauai (mostly N. Shore) the weekend before Thanksgiving. That island is always amazing.
-
Hey, I'm in Honolulu. Want to go skiing on the big island with me?
http://www.skihawaii.com/
-
Absolutely! I gotta make that happen.
-
Rusty_Nails: Where you coming from? Round trip from Honolulu to Kona is $100. I tried calling the number on the page, but there's no answer.
2"-4" expected tonight, NWS calls that a "blizzard" by Hawaii terms. Fresh pineapple pow!

I'm in B.C.
I'm all about it, but won't be back in Oahu until near Christmas time.

Figured I'd put a couple of pic's in here. Thanks for the advice...it worked out well. Anini and the fish market are the hook-up. Wish I had brought the split because it snowed at ton on the big island while we were there.
