The Weed. It does not suck. (TR, pics is here)
I got back late last night from my last weekend skiing this season :( but am happy to say it did not suck. I slept in a little bit Saturday morning before driving up in order to preserve my sanity a little bit and make up for the 10 hours of sleep over the last 120 hours. I didn't meet any maggots on Saturday, just kinda bummed around with the family and asked a number of very confused people for change for a nickel. One guy even offered me five pennies before I skied away.
On Sunday as I was sidestepping up the Wave at about 10:30 and asked for change and found Telenater, Divegirl, and Sirius (sorry I never caught your handle). We skied Fawn Ridge a copule of times and luv was found. A nice carpet of 4-8" of beautiful luv... The trees there are perfectly spaced.... mmmm :). Unfortunately, because the surface underneath is frozen solid it was kinda crunchy in places... I have to give huge props to Divegirl. I've never met anyone who learned to ski that quickly. A word: she rips. We lost nater when he went to try to find Kelly. As the day progressed laps were made on thunder saddle, the wall, and finally the reut as the whole mountain froze up.
In order to try and fulfill my promise to myself to spin a 360 in the park (I've done them of cornices, just never off of a jump) I spent a couple of laps in the park. Unfortunately, I fucking suck. I 180ed a couple a times and learned to do a mute grab on a straight air and crashed a bunch of times on the landings (frozen, they fucking suck as well)... But no 360. Frustrating, very frustrating. And by the way, rails fucking suck. And trying to 360 off of a funbox is not good when the funbox has a little gap in the rail which has a nice tendency to catch your edges and slam you into the side of the box ;). Enough of the attempted, and failed, flippy spinny shit.
The last weekend of the year was pretty damn good. As we drove away from the Weed the snow cleared for a second and we could see the top of the mountain one last time.
All in all, this season did not suck. Although I didn't satisfy my promise to get into the park-flippy spinny shit, lines were skied and things were hucked that I have been wanting to do for awhile. A picture to come.... somethign went wrong with the digicam and I only got 1, kinda blurry pic.
Nice to meet Divegirl, Telenater, and Sirius and thank you for showing me around your stashes in the weed. I'm buying a pass for next year (hopefully) since I'm done moving and weekends will be free again. I'll be up there.
03-04, It did not suck.

EDIT: The only pic that came out at all, and this is a sorta kinda came out. A transition on ice:

Sirius <---Spelled Cyrus = Me
Good to ski with you. Another welcome addition to the Weed crew. Someday we will take over the world.:)

Or, at least we'll take over the Wood. (cue threats about revoking our season passes and banning us from Kirkwood).

Haha, that's totally funny about the guy offering you pennies!
Hey thanks for the kind words. I love this sport. The weed crew is a fun crew, that's for sure. And for a 15 year old, you're pretty good yourself! ;)
And about the 360s/180s, I'm in the same boat...I'd like to try those myself. Next season we'll have to step it up. But keep in mind, the point is to eventually do them off cornices, not in the stinkin' park! :)
