Another Krypton fit question

I have a chance to pick up a pair of Krypton Pros for a very nice price.
I also have D width feet and good sized calfs.

A search pulled up a few threads where other wide footed maggots have been very happy with these boots after getting them worked on.

I'm 6'-200lbs and have always had bootfit problems so, regardless of what I buy, I've accepted having to drop some coin on bootfitting.

I guess I'm asking for educated opinions on whether these boots, with some work, would be a good choice or should I look elsewhere.

We're about the same size. I have wide feet at the metatarsals, narrow heels. Heel lift is the hardest thing for me to get rid of in boots. My feet measure in between 11 and 11.5 in length; my street shoes are 10.5 to 11. I have 27.5 Krypton Cross boots.

I couldn't even get my feet into Kryptons in that first year with the non-intuition liners. Later, a bootfitter I went to (Mike Croke, Village Ski Loft, Incline Village) encouraged me to try the Kryptons, said the intuitions would make all the difference. He was right. I think the shells only needed a tiny bit of stretching on the sides (near the metatarsal area), but other than that, they fit great. Heel lift is minimal -- still a tiny bit, but better than any other boot I've found.

Out of the box, I think they're shaped more for narrow feet, but with a little work they'll fit wider feet fine. Works for me. I think the Tecnica last fits my feet better (more similar shape), but the forward lean on the Tecnicas I had 2 years ago wasn't comfortable.

Thanks, now I just have to find a good bootfitter in the Midwest.

I've heard they exist, a lot of people claim to have seen one, but I'm still skeptical.
