Following Maggot's triumphant first virgin run on Thunder Saddle on the opening day of the backside, Mr. Arty50 and I succeeded in being the last civilian riders on Chair 4 for the season.
I brought the idea up as Arty and I reached the top of chair 6 at about 2:55. We play a fast game of groomer-gaper dodger (kind of like Frogger, but it's real life and its a 2-ton frog). We then caught the only chair in the Sierra that has a chance of being slower than chair 4 (Chair 1 also at Kirkwood, you really should try it out some day). Chair 2 and up, Arty realizes that it's snowing, the wind is blowing and he's wearing a thin sweatshirt (and no, we're not on Chair 4 yet). We get to the bottom of Chair 4 just as the lifties are getting ready to put up "Closed till next year" sign. We hop on; a patroller gets on about 5 chairs behind us. The last long, cold, slow ride to the top isn't so long, cold or slow because the stoke (titties) is running rampant through my mind. At the top, we nod a quick one to the group of patrollers waiting to do their final sweep.
Fawn ridge, rolling terrain, nice trees, and the best pow on the mountain. Ankle deep for sizable areas and perfect for long continuous tree lines. At the bottom of Chair 3, Arty and I confirm that that was a worth last run for the backside's season.
I was about 20 minutes ahead of them, went out to fawn ridge myself, and all I could say was.....looooooove!! I nearly cried on the way down it was so good. And, I was on my new skis (yes, I know all of you know that already, I expressed it enough during the day...). Thank you, thank you Britney, for selling me your skis. I am in love.....with my new skis. Just thought I'd let everyone know that....again!!! :DQuote:
