Agree that the Rustler 9 (I've owned both versions) are a great all-rounder that can be precise or loose depending on your whim. Actual spec for the Rustler 9 bevels is .9 plus or minus .2 degrees base and 2.8 plus or minus .2 degrees side, which looked like 3 degrees when I ran a panzer over it with... -
Most people whose kids raced a few years ago have a stock of fluorinated wax and overlays in the garage. Poisonous, but faster than snot. Wear a respirator....Leave a comment:

The cuff diameter on the Remedy is slighter larger than the Hawx Ultra, but the heel shape is deeper over the top of the calcaneus so better for many heel shapes, especially with Haglund's bumps....Leave a comment:

Have her put them on at home and watch a couple movies on Netflix while standing, she'll know if they are close enough to ski. Forward lean preference is mostly defined by what someone is used to (and sometimes by calf size), e.g. if her previous boot is super upright like Dalbello then it may feel...Leave a comment:

We standardize on Eddy Products 500-700 degree guns in the shop, and I run it hot and as close to the area I intend to modify as possible (typically 5-6mm) - plus time is precious at our place, we commonly have to wait to get on a punch when it's busy - it's pretty easy to bubble the top surface before...Leave a comment:

Should not be a problem, then. I've been doing fifth met and toe length punches without grinding on the Remedy with success - you need more heat than you think, but the plastic will take a lot without surface melt, just take your time (i.e. intermittent heat application with the gun). FWIW, normal Memory...

I have two pairs of Redster CS (same shape from the styloid back, slightly tighter toebox) and a 117mm wide foot. Doable, but it takes some patience. Huge punches at the fifth mets and first met bunions, a bunch of grinding to get punches to hold in the navicular and styloid areas. You want a bootfitter...Leave a comment:

PS Tecnica makes the Zero G Tour Pro in a 22.5, and it's plenty stiff. Not the same sort of fit as the Hawx Ultra, but nothing else is either. Unfortunately they are even more expensive.Leave a comment:

Not really. The Hawx Ultra XTD has the smallest cuff circumference in the hybrid class, the Shift Alpha is not far behind, both are 98mm lasts. The Cochise is roomier with a 99mm last and the cuff is much looser. Time and tariff adjustments mean you will have trouble finding a new Hawx Ultra XTD or...Leave a comment:

You generally choose boot flex based on weight, skiing style and skill level and learn to use it in all types of terrain.
You generally choose a hybrid boot if you also plan to skin uphill.
Fit is the most important factor in comfort.

Soft, light twintips with no metal and artsy topsheets? I think they have Chetler envy and are trying to compensate....👍 2Leave a comment:

Thanks for putting this out there, Terry. I own an STH2/Warden13/Strive 16 jig, but needed the Strive 12/14 heel pattern....Leave a comment:

Yeah, not hard to blow the boot apart at the carbon/PU junction when punching for extra lateral width . . . or at least separate the two elements so the boot leaks. Don't ask how I know. Glad to be rid of the CoreFrame construction this season....Leave a comment:

This is the 98mm boot you are thinking of with the pointy toe and super spacious ankle:

No, all the Shift Pro boots are 100mm (called Shift Supra BOA for 2026). Typical industry subterfuge; customers are always trying to guess what Alpha, Supra and Delta mean (usually incorrectly). Same with Atomic's Ultra, Prime and Magna (many people assume Ultra would be the wide one).
