I only wear soft shells for touring and I previously owned a Gamma MX from about 2014-2019. I currently use no shell at all or a Gamma SL hybrid which is very different from the MX. I still use Gamma SK pants for skiing and original Gamma pants for ice climbing. When it the MX jacket came out a long... -

The VWK/BMT122 weigh 20-25% more than other touring skis for a 50%+ improvement in performance. I have those too with MTNs and sometimes wish the heels were lighter. I think each set is are 2250g-ish. Apologies for all the Volkl Vwerks fanboy posting....Leave a comment:

Some Voile offerings perhaps?
As much as I love a light weight set up there is such a downhill performance improvement to bump up to ~1800g for my 80kg weight. You really need good (perfect?) snow to have a lot of fun going skiing down on 180cm+ 1600g 120mm skis, or maybe just be a smaller skier....Leave a comment:

I've had theoretical concerns but no actual issues with MTNs on VWK and BMT122, both of which are putting a lot more torque on the binding than the BMT94. For the toes I'm more concerned as these can see a lot of torque and pull out force; in the heels at least they have the ability to release if the...Leave a comment:

Fischer branded Dynafit Superlite 150 heels on Kreuzspitze adjustment plates with ATK free ride spacers and Salomon toes. A 4+ brand frankenbinding! TGR Tech Talk approved haha. I've had some similar ideas for my BMT94s to save some weight compared to the normal MTN heels. But the MTN heels do ski really...Leave a comment:

I've been using the Devcon for years for inserts without any issues. If you use it for chipped topsheets it will turn yellow with UV exposure (for inserts this isn't an issue). I have the larger bottles (250ml) of the Devcon and would recommend that size if you plan to do more ski mounting work in the...Leave a comment:

I sold my 176cm BMT94 to another mag who messaged me.
Now I just have 186cm BMT94 to trade towards some 109s should the opportunity arise. I would consider selling them outright also....Leave a comment:

Praxis Yeti Carbon 192cm flat $150
Kinda pains me to let these go but they didn't get skied last year...
192cm Praxis Carbon Yetis. Skies are in excellent shape. Bases, edges, and top sheets are all 9/10. Sold FLAT, planning to keep the Speed Turns but would consider selling those too.
Now the bad part: these skis...Last edited by skis_the_trees; 12-03-2025, 06:49 AM. -
I saw some PX-15 on some thrift store slalom skis. Should be same mount pattern, DIN only unless you get new AFDs for the all metal toes.
Would those work for you? I think they were $50 and I can grab them and ship them for you if desired.

I won't be going to Europe anytime soon but would put my name on the list for a pair....Leave a comment:

I've got some 191 Volkl Mantras (M4 generation) I'd let go for $50 + ship. Sounds perfect for you....Leave a comment:

Given how recommended the DPS Lotus 138 is for Japan the ARG seems like the choice. Low angle low density pow really benefits from a ski with a lot of surface area and fast planing up above the surface. The web lists the ARG II UL 187cm as 2250g (pretty heavy for touring) vs Dispatch 120 186cm as 1905g....Leave a comment:

I've seen the printed mount point be asymmetric between skis on many brands. Never trust the printed topsheet line (or sidewall mark apparently) - always measure from the tip/tail!...Leave a comment:

I'd shoot for a 60-65 flex 21.5 just based off my kiddos. My small 8yo 52lb boy will be in a Cochise 21.5 which I think is supposed to be a 60 flex. He is an expert skier. My daughter was a bit taller at that age but skinny and in 65 flex.
I don't think 60-65 will be too stiff for your daughter...Leave a comment:

-rec mount point is 10.5cm from center....Leave a comment:

All my skate boots are Salomon but they run true to Euro sizing in my experience. I wear a EU48 in running shoes, approach shoes, mountaineering boots (all different brands but NOT Salomon) and 48 in Salomon nordic skate boots too.
I have no idea if the Alpina 42 boots may potentially work...Leave a comment:

Are you set on Pescados? I have a set of yellow/black I would consider getting rid of, although I'm not in a particular rush....Leave a comment:
