though maybe not what you had in mind, one option is/was the pulse boot lab (out of revy) boot stiffener/proflex tongue. after some searching looks like they may not be around anymore? looks like this: https://solelab.co.nz/products/pulse-proflex

is a skimo pack in the running? thats what i use for a similar purpose. i have the ultimate direction 18L (and 28L for longer days) for this but there are lots. love em and end up using them alot.

some advantages:
- crampon pocket accessible with the bag on. i use this for skins...
