  • What is sizing like for the HB? If the AM110 at 186 is just right do you size up or down for the HB?...

I consider the downhill performance excellent. It's a very rigid boot, cuff and sole. The volume is decently low if you stuff a Intuition in it. FWIW, Armada takes good care of our Freeride coaches. There are at least 4 of us in the boot now. 3 are running an Intuition. Not sure about the other. I'm...

  • Man, you love those rockered skis!!!

The AM118 has my attention as a resort pow ski. The FR120ST is my ski for those days that it nukes all day, but they dont do groomers like a flat or slight camber ski. They slot right in there with Renegades being more damp, but not quite as fast/nimble....

Yeah, I disregard the indicator altogether. Tighten until when you load the boot forward hard the brakes do not start to drop. Make sure the dildo snaps all the way up cleanly. Loosen preload if it doesn't....

Just got mine back after a core shot repair and light tune up. Such a great ski. They let you (and help you) get away with a lot of shenanigans. There is still a place for my beloved Deathwishes, but I could ski the AM110 on most days and be happy.

We'll see how the season goes. It's going...

I'll try to grab the 192 Mfree108 in the next couple of weeks to ski them back to back. I think I can fairly say that they are very similar. Last year when I ordered the AM's the 192 MFree108 were no longer available direct from Dynastar. I skied them, wanted them, but knew I had to wait till this year....

I would have to ski them back to back to be precise, but I would say very similar with the 112 being a bit looser (and more center mounted).

The Mfree 108 (current) is the ski I would most closely compare it to that I have skied. The construction feels similar....

  • Funny you say that. I'm waiting on a pair of 185's after my ski guy got me 191's mistakenly. I considered skiing them, but these are almost exclusively going to be daily drivers for skiing variable conditions with a bunch ski team kids. I thought the 191 might be too much of a charger for that. They...

Marshall did it again: AM110 thread!

Finally got my first day on the AM110. I'm going to give it the best compliment that I can; the skis just disappeared on my feet from minute one. They're super intuitive, float great, damp and nimble.

We got ALL of the snow out west (finally). It took a few days to settle in and open,...

As to the tongue question. You can move the tongue on the Remedy liner to affect volume over the instep. And yes, there are different volume tongues available from Atomic....

Curious Frank, have you ever tried Intuition? I've skied stock liners, Intuition and Zips and I find Intuition fills the boot the most. I suppose it depends upon the fit you're after, but I was playing with boots this AM and my Intuitions give a very locked in feel. They're cheap enough to throw a Hail...

  • The info is out there, but yes, it was very under the radar. He sounds like a dedicated lifelong skier. RIP.

People have such pow FOMO and they assume resorts are safe. My whole family wears beacons on pow days. I carry a probe and shovel in a vest. Probably overkill, but you can't do...

  • No signs of instability during our tour on the east side of Truckee yesterday. We stayed under 8k ft and found great coverage down to our 6500 base. Snowpack was right side up and skied great. Skied a tree zone at about 25 degrees. It was a fun early season tour.

    Looking forward to getting...

  • Bahahaha... touché. Tahoe should almost be broken into regions. I don't generally pop down to SL for a ski day. I probably should, but it can be a journey. Our other resort with higher base elevation has been better than PT in past years, but is pretty well jacked this season, also.

Interesting notes about the new Hotshot. I found the old one to be pretty bland. At 183 it wasn't enough ski to push hard in variable conditions. It didn't carve or hold an edge super well. I really liked it when skiing slower and it floated really nicely in pow. I traded it for the Deathwish 104 and...

FWIW, I've been taping spoilers in place for years. Works just fine. Double bonus for the fancy cloth tape my boot shop gets, but duct tape works, also.

I really dig the new soft spoilers that come with the Remedy and AR1....

  • As a Tahoe local, I've had better success at Mammoth on storm days. Maybe just luck. Palisades holds everything at the first hint of weather or wind these days. It doesn't help that lower elevation has been pretty wet lately. My prediction is almost no terrain available until the week after Christmas....

  • Not Valdez, but I flew with CPG. They have the obvious advantage of Alyeska as a backup plan if weather doesn't cooperate. My advice is to go for as long as you can to give you the best chances of flying. Also, bring enough friends of equal skill to fill the bird. You don't want to get stuck with a...
