The difference between taller and shorter sidewalls isn’t going to be huge, but there a some advantages to going with the taller sidewall:
- On average, the smaller diameter wheel/more sidewall package is going to be less expensive
- More sidewall provides more protection...

Pickles, are you putting these tires on dedicated winter rims?
If so, 255/65R19 are the same circumference as your stock tires, and Tire Rack has X-Ice Snows in that size in stock.Leave a comment:

Are you guys forgetting about the Cadillac CTS-V wagons?
The last generation had a 6.2L supercharged V8 w/ 556 hp. Available with a manual....Leave a comment:

Continental VikingContact8 is the test winner, ahead of Nokian and Michelin (and a Goodyear that is only sold in Europe).

Ok. In real life I’ve driven in snow since the month I turned 16. I recommend you go with VikingContact8s if you need winter tires that aren’t LT rated.☕ 1Leave a comment:

Django, I don’t get that viewpoint at all.
You buy a set of tires and are like ‘yep, they seem to work’. But compared to what?
I mean, all tires work, some just work better than others, and doing controlled comparison testing is how you determine that.

Test included Hakka 10 studded tires. The only place they performed well was smooth ice. On an ice lake course the studded tires were mid pack....👎 1Leave a comment:

Wonder if Ogre knew how to spell his name.
Or maybe you’re thinking of Sebastien Ogier? He probably knows a bit about tire performance.
Anway, if I have a choice when I spend a grand, I prefer to spend it on the thing that doesn’t suck rather than the one that does, all...Leave a comment:

Ha. Nice.
The V3 have never been brought to the US. We’ve chugged along with the V2, which has been around since 2014.Leave a comment:

The DM-V2s use the ‘multicell’ (foam) tread compound, so there will be a change if compound partway thru the tread depth.
DM-V2 is dated. A DM-V3 was released back in 2019 and was an upgrade from the V2. The V3 significantly trails the top tires in testing.
For studless...Leave a comment:
