Agree hertel is a lot easier to work with but also probably doesn't last as long as some others.
I use hot sauce at home (Tahoe) and think it's probably a good wax for the warmish wet snow here. I know it's marketed as all temp but it's a pretty soft wax.
I have some slightly older Maestrales that are in excellent shape with unused liners I could give you for shipping $, but better see if they'd fit first. I don't know how they compare with the Quattro in terms of fit. They'd be far less stiff than the Quattro....
Never skied on AK, but FWIW for heavy shitty snow in the Sierra I'm definitely a fan of flat or slight reverse camber skis without much sidecut, but hardly anyone is making them anymore. VW katana as mentioned, BMT108, some heritage labs offerings (none produced this year I think).
