+1 for erring on the side of more grip for a new to backcountry person. Any gains in efficiency from the frees will likely be more than offset by slipping out on our steep skin tracks.... -
I’m pretty adept at making most polypropylene tops smell bad and my super thermo tops have fair better than other poly pro shirts.
brynje has a blog post about wool vs. poly pro that makes the argument that poly pro is better in this case because it is less hydrophilic and absorbs less...👍 1Leave a comment:

The Tahoe Backcountry Alliance has done some strong advocacy work regarding a recent El Dorado County proposal to limit winter parking where county plows snow. There are a few stoke worthy turns to be had above 9,000 feet. The wet snow earlier was nice for coating some of the rocks, but it was nice to ski some properly fluffy snow after Monday’s storm. Still very sharky....1 PhotoLeave a comment:

New heli ski outfit in Bridgeport taking folks to the sweet waters.
It will be interesting to see how they fair. All my friends who have skied the sweet waters have only ever come across various flavors of windhammered snow.
