FTR, the stepped bit (aka Armada bit) is 3.5mm (not 3.9mm) to 4.1mm x 9.5mm.... -
Don't sweat the small stuff. Life's too short and this is like wood shop 101. KISS and perform a few practice rounds on scrap wood or old skis to build confidence and develop your own procedures and process.
IMO a lot of people are relying on and assuming a jig or some other tool will be...Last edited by AlpiNord; 12-12-2025, 08:48 AM.👍 1Leave a comment:

Roto brushed or roto corked? Roto corking generates friction heat that can liquify (or at least soften) the wax for better saturation and durability....Leave a comment:

I hear ya. I've got some ideas and the SkiScribe was on the path to getting something going for testing.

Yes. Just using an age old scribing technique for matching odd shapes. You can still use the calipers and centering ruler to double check, too....Leave a comment:

You guys got me off my ass and resurrected the SkiScribe I use to make 5 or 6 yearts ago before the centering tool:

That won't work on curves and variable widths. The diagonals would need to be an 'X' to keep the center equidistant from the center. I've been chewing on this concept for a bit and it would have been handy to make a self centering clamp like that for my CNC for drilling skis....Leave a comment:

Hertz Road Side Service. We’re here to help….2 1/2 days after you really need it!
These 'venting cliff notes' would fit in the annoying & can't make this shit up thread too:

Correct on left side the OSB bearing on the I-Joist. Web stiffeners or blocking panels are typical for carrying point loads through the I-Joists. 4-6" wide strips flange to flange at your cross blocking would work. You are not talking huge loads here and filing the inner webs will give you overkill...

If you are simply supporting the OSB piece you are cutting out, one option is to infill the web from top to bottom flange with plywood to basically make it a solid member. For the left side, I would think you could then glue and screw on a 2x4 along the I-Joist. The right side could be blocked between...Leave a comment:

Light Hot Scraping saves a bunch of scraping & mess later. Fiberlene is more time consuming and tedious....Leave a comment:

Strive 16 are the green/blue heel holes @ 32mm & all the others use the red heel holes @ 30mm apart.

You're welcome. Here's the template: https://www.slidewright.com/Bindings...e_Template.pdf

It'd be straight forward (and tedious) to set up 'drill files' for various BSLs.
It's all based on the ski center line vs shapes.

Absolutely. A fun challenge and now quickly repeatable.

I've been wanting to set up my CNC for drilling for a while. Test mounted on baltic birch first, then aligned/marked/punched with vee bit to 1.5mm before drilling 6mm with CNC and finished drilling by hand.:
