FWIW, Cherry with various finishes. Interestingly, the Boos Food grade cutting board Mystery oil soaks all the way through the wood. MinWax polycrylic also ,provides a similar color change and enhanced grain. Red oak looks very good with these finishes, too. Once I get some raw linseed oil, I'll give...

Interesting. My 2 year old Pioneer 109s may be stiffer and do carve exceptionally well. Too stiff up front sometimes if nailing firm bumps under powder. My Icelantic Keepers were a blast in deeper snow and were quick in the trees and could carve. But at 189s they were massive beasts and wore on the...Leave a comment:

It’s a very little material removal to go back and forth between SIDE edge angles. A 3 degree side will be a little grippier and easy to go back.
A good way to test is set a pair of edges at 3 and leave a pair at 2. Ski on the 2 on the inside...Leave a comment:

Interesting observations. Supposedly cherry is a medium density wood and has been generally consistent in the past for cutting, routing, planing and sanding, IIRC.
