I hope they ski as well as they look - BG118tours + HYs is def a dream setup and a def investment in quality skiing and craftmanship. I look forward to getting your take on them
I haven't had a chance to ski my BG118tours with FR15evos yet....
I rode my AM110 and AM118 back to back to day. First half of the day shredding somewhat bony / sharky / bush infested pow on the AM118 and then moved over to the 110s as things started to get a bit tracked out and my early season legs needed a few hundred grams less to throw around.
I took my AM110s mounted at +1.5 out today and man - perfection. So balanced, you could drive them through the middle of the ski no problem and they pivot really easily. I did some light billy goating and shallow pow runs too, and they were great in those conditions as well. In short, key ski kinda...
I have not hand flexed the current Wildcat, yet the earlier WCs hand flex a looooot stiffer. AM118s are supportive, yet flex a fair bit meaning that they have a nice round flex pattern - so I would think that they would have better suspension. I suspect they will ski like a slightly more directional...
I am not sure that this ski needs a dedicated ski - it is very much in the Fr110/R110 spectrum - but here goes:
I had my first day on the AM110s today. '187s - I am 175, 70ish kg nekkid, your pretty avarage non-ex-racer skier. I use them with Cortex 140s at 25.5, so short BSL....
BO98s are great. Their tune out of the wrapper is often shait though, so a tip is to detune them heavily rear of the aft contact points especially and perhaps also to give them a retune. That makes them a lot looser.
I used to run a pair of BO98s, yet the MF100 matched my style even better....
M-Free 100 is the updated M-Free 99 you might be seeking - I think they are great. If you want a ski that is slightly more business HL AM100s could be the ticket, or Enforcer 104s if you want titanal. SF100 is also an option if you want it to be more playful and turny.
There are some more skis that will be released next week or some such I believe. I am guessing a UT110 if released then will be introduced in the HL main thread, the FR110 thread (where it belongs imho) or in the somewhat redundant AM110 thread (that should just be a part of the FR110 thread imho)....
I am kinda glad that the takes thus far has been so positive. I did not care for them at all at first glance having really enjoyed the past few designs - so if these more colored/lively graphics would mean more people get on these great skis then I am all for em (even if they are not for me thus far)...
if my time thus far on the WD100tours is any indication the WD92tour should tick all of those boxes in a favorable manner (except the crampon part of the question - that has not been within the remit of my experiences of the ski thus far). I would assume ON3P touring offerings in general to be a fair...
They are not, there are differences in their geometries as well as their flex patterns, yet they are very, very similar on paper. They do not ski the same though.
There is a ton of info on the SF110 and MF112 in the SF110 thread, BlackOps thread and Dynastar thread. Both the SF110 and MF112...
ON3Ps are usually very good off piste regardless of model, so a wood92tour sounds pretty ideal for your requirements.
To be clear - the carving bit was referring to skiing on groomers (bottom part of the tour I did today), not off piste where they turn/hold an edge nicely
First take on WD100tours: kinda what you'd expect - floats well for their width, predictable in variable snow and feels like they will be amazing late season/corn skis. I've been out on them three days thus far and so far so good.
They are not the most entusiastic carvers out there - meaning...
