Gaijin,
I skied Akukura on the big pow day two days ago. We did a lot of side stepping to the north, first to the gully immediately to the north (super short but steep) and then a longer side step to the ridge above the tunnel laps (steeper short laps down to tsubame lodge that you traverse...

this. But depends on where you are going too. I’m here for my first time. Tide is a little low for sure, but I’m surprised at how much alder bashing there is so you want to be able to turn quick. Lots of gullies, wind lips, convoluted terrain. Don’t bring a ski you want to have to open it up on....😀 1Leave a comment:

I’ve been seeing a lot of chatter about the shift 2 16 and they don’t talk about the increased heel elasticity. That is literally the most important part of the upgrade. 50% increase in the heel elasticity is huge. I don’t care what people say about the shift, if you can scroll instagram and see...Leave a comment:

Just picked up some 190 Noctas. Unreal ski. Super easy to ski, nimble, surfs like mad, can drive the tips harder than my anima but is still very much a forwarded mounted ski. It’s just that the tips float much more.
skied it in tight chutes of chopped blower, wind affected alpine, and...Leave a comment:

190 Nocta mount point help.
I just scored a 190 Nocta (new one with camber) and want to mount it with MTN for Japan. Daily driver is a 182 Anima which I find stupid easy to ski in all conditions but I have to do strange things to keep it from diving on long radius turns on mellow terrain....Leave a comment:

I had the cortex for a minute. I got my GFT in. It was definitely more difficult. The upper boa doesn’t allow you to open the cuff fully. I find boots easy to put on generally, so someone with a higher instep could hate it. Putting customers in it could be awkward for sure.
lower boa...Leave a comment:

I can’t picture the foot that it would work for. So much volume in the ankle in that liner you are most definitely going to be pushed forward and lose toe room. With the GFT I had to massage a lot of cork out of the Achilles ankle to not have my toes crushed. I could add a bunch of cork to the tongue...Leave a comment:

I world cup into the Remedy with a Zipfit GFT. It is easy. I would say it is easier than when I had my Zero Gs new, but I could just be better at World Cupping now. I think it is easier to World Cup into than traditional stepping in, but once again, maybe I'm just that fucking talented.

The Remedy may be less temperature sensitive than some boots but by no means is it actually stable across temperature ranges. It is literally butter at room temp and decently stiff at -10C. Interestingly, I find it heat up really quickly when doing boot work and sets really fast. A really nice perk...Leave a comment:

Help me find: Handmade leather snowboard boots with tech inserts
Last year I saw a guy on instagram that made himself low profile leather snowboard boots with integrated tech inserts. I believe he was an Italian leather shoe maker who snowboards and wanted something like this so made it himself. Basically tall mountaineering boots that were tech compatible for split... -
unclear what you are asking. What size boot are you in? What does the rest of your foot look like?
But, in a way too general sense, a 100mm foot in anything bigger than a 25 is unlikely to need a width expansion.
Also, this class of boot is expected to be worked on. Shopping...Leave a comment:

It’s a few mm short but not a lot. Even more importantly, their liner is crazy short. Honestly they would be better off with the liner from the size up. But you have zips so you’re good. I’d start with a 26.5 and work up if needed....👍 1Leave a comment:

That’s wild. High 270s and no toe work? Do you feel the plastic at all or just liner? Which liner?
for those listening, length isn’t the only thing that affects toe space. How the ankle and heel interact with the shell can determine how far back you can sit in the shell.
