This is how things go for me:
Machine arrived Thursday. Opened it up, tried to follow the directions for filling the boiler. Fried the machine.
Won't ever know for sure if I screwed it up, since the machine comes with two sets of instructions (one insert just to warn that this is necessary,...

Trigger pulled on Anna and DF54. Got an extra 10% new customer discount at Cliff&Pebble. Resigned to life of limited puck screen and filter basket options.
DF54 with red titanium espresso burrs is backordered a few weeks.....

Been surfing FB Marketplace for a while, but the population here is small. So the plan has been to keep trolling FB until Black Friday/Cyber Monday, then go retail. Anna's are on sale for $560 (20% off) though. Guessing that's as good as I'll see them.

So basically, there's no way I could convince my wife on me going north of $1000 for full setup when she doesn't even drink coffee. Even $700 is a stretch.:

Would have to hold it down with my left hand while getting the portafilter on/off. I think poor tolerances added to this. The grinder was also quite clumpy. I transitioned to pourover...

  • Bike rant. Ever since the release of the new Shimano brakes, I've been waiting for huge sales on XT and Saint 4 pots. But not that much going on. Yea, that's my rant.

This kind of sums up where I am:

I looked down that rabbit hole for a bit when there was a Gaggia Classic for sale locally. Ultimately I started thinking about machine cost plus upgrade kit cost plus hassle. Started looking at the Miicoffee Apex/Turin Legato...

Also wondering about this, but not sure if many of the expresso gurus re still finding their way to this dying forum. Literally saw a Gaggia Classic (2021) pop up on FB Marketplace for $250 just after my post....
