At home; I’m actually preferring a flattened super thin patty on the grill over putting the griddle on the grill and doing a smash. You get a combo between a charbroil and a smash….
Fresh grind from the butcher. Fatty grind. (Save the fancy cut for a steak) 1/4# ball. Salt & pepper...

Don't use Lowes or HD - Their "installers" are 3rd party contractors selected by low bid piece rate. Horror stories are abundant.
Do you need to do move the electrical or just change fixtures?
This seems like DIY or handyman work. A kitchen/bath contractor is going...Leave a comment:

I use an xtratuf ankle deck boot as my midwinter dog walking / ski lot boot here in the PNW. They make insulated ones.Leave a comment:

The way I think about insurance: You didn't actually insure the house (or car, or whatever). You bought a policy with a defined dollar amount and a defined list of events that are covered.👍 1Leave a comment:

Buy 2-3 AL bars of where you think you need to be - Put them on and take the bike around the block. Return them. Buy the carbon version of which one you like - take it for a few rides before you cut.Leave a comment:

Anyone work in this industry - I am curious how they actually connect the dots billing wise....
Like - If I utilize any medical service I fill out those standard 6 pages of paperwork and upload my insurance card to their website ahead of the appointment - Then inevitably, when I show up,...Leave a comment:

Rod is not "rated for structural" per se - Instead they are sold in different ASTM grades based on material strength, engineers will spec the grade based on use case. If your worried about it - buy it at a professional supply house - it's grade will be listed - you can trust its not mystery...Leave a comment:

When we are heading out (roadtrip or just weekend errand) my wife will request (force) a stop at the coffee shop on the way out of the neighborhood. No big deal (sure)... But she left a 1/2 full carafe of fresh brew in kitchen... And inevitably will leave 3/4 of her purchased cup full in my car at the...Leave a comment:

Sorta apples/oranges to the question... But we are seeing the local BD's streamline permits in like <8 weeks for these mega datacenters in rural areas (bumfuck E OR, bumfuck W TX, outside RNO, outside PHX, Western VA, etc...). The longest pole becomes the State/EPA NPDES/SWPPP permit.

You can buy threaded rod of various sizes at really any building supply store - its a standard commodity product, super common in commercial work. If you need larger diameter than you can find at your big box store, go to a trade specific store like a metal, plumbing, or electrical supply house....Leave a comment:

I assume they will either lego in eco-block or drive sheet pile to shore the riverbank, then backfill and pave to open this winter. Just - it’s all got to come out and be replaced with a permanent solution at some point in the near future....Leave a comment:

IMO - EV adoption is the US has stuttered because our market likes big trucks and SUVs. Big non-aero EVs need big batteries… Big batteries are heavy, so they need even more big batteries… Soon your SUV-EV is a $25k premium over ICE version, and it’s going to take 10+ years before that premium...👍 1Leave a comment:

I built a “non-permit required” shed that just happens to have a garage door. It cost me ~$12k (2020) including someone to place the slab and someone to install the OHD; all other work DIY. Single car size.Leave a comment:

To add insult to injury - The road fixes are going to be interesting. It’s finally getting cold. But you typically have problems compacting earth or base in freezing conditions. And you have major problems trying to place asphalt in freezing conditions.
Whatever they do this winter; expect...Leave a comment:
