Late to the party but Whis opens today. Village gondola, emerald, franz. Hiking in the alpine should be open after a bit of morning avalanche control....

A new builder showed up last year and built a tech rock line that drops down across my existing trail. Not real happy about that, as there have been a few close calls of riders dropping in and nearly taking out riders climbing up my trail. And the line drops into some of the worst dirt I've seen...silty...

No great surprise here. It's been announced that only Blackcomb is opening this weekend with a postage stamp of terrain. Whistler is delayed with no firm opening day. No staff day.
From my brief time on the mountain, there's no snow at the bottom of Emerald. Frozen rain runnels all the way...
