My opinion is that you should always go small on ski size until they are an advanced skier, it just makes life so much easier for them.
Both of my kids started skiing at the same age as yours and neither of them could go straight to parallel, but I know others can. If you can pull it...

I posted a thread on here nine years ago when my wife and I had an unplanned adoption of my now 9 year old son. I had a ton of worries going into it wondering if I would feel the same way towards him as I did towards my natural born kids. But they were all unfounded. I had a meeting this morning so I didn’t get up to Alta until 11, I saw Collins and Wildcat were down so I went up the hill to Sunnyside. Saw a line that brought flashbacks of a busy Disneyland. Stood there for about 45 seconds before heading back home. Hopefully that snow is at least bonding somewhat...Leave a comment:

That was almost me yesterday. I’m not exactly sure what happened, but long story short my leg went in a direction it shouldn’t have and I felt pain from my Achilles to my hip. Not sure how but I came out unscathed, but 6 months of big leg workouts didn’t hurt. Conditions are a bit spicy out....Leave a comment:
