No, but he made a respectable showing; on one of his many attempts, he got a hand just onto the lip of the crux mantle (a bit outside the frame upper right).... -

Yeah, it can go either way, and deals can be gotten on elective procedures. Also, true story, which I've mentioned somewhere here previously: My wife had a small, but serious enough (3rd degree) burn, and she went in to a clinic in Salt Lake City to deal with it. A couple months later, she called up...Leave a comment:

Ha ha, I went yesterday (mostly because my gym rat kid needed another giant economy size protein powder, but what the fuck, I'll pick up another $150 worth of other stuff while I'm there). I parked in the absolute far corner of the rather large parking lot, and as I approached the car afterwards, somebody...Leave a comment:

Well, having health insurance does give you access to services. Even though, indeed, you may be paying much or all of the insurance company's negotiated rate to the provider, that's likely a lot less than what a provider would bill you if you were uninsured. That's certainly worth something, and it's...👍 1Leave a comment:

Another thing to keep in mind: Health insurance isn't just about getting taken care of, it's about protecting your assets when the bill arrives. Medical bankruptcy is a greater concern if, financially, you have farther to fall (unless you have really far to fall, in which case it isn't as much of a...Leave a comment:

How does that even work? Do "crowd funded health plans" have negotiated rates with hospitals and clinics, to get around how book rates are like 3x what insurance companies pay? Or is it based on "great luck" that you don't need expensive care?
As Bandini noted above,...Leave a comment:

Now, I'm not saying that Christianity is stupid.
Some Christians, though, seem to be saying that academic standards are inherently at odds with Christianity. Hey, maybe they're right! You can read the actual essay (and the assignment spec) in question at this link.Leave a comment:

Glad to hear you're stepping it up and it's going well! One thing I always recommend for runners post-injury is uphill-only running (walk back down). Unless the uphill is particularly steep, uphill running ends up being very easy on your knees. Slower and very low impact, while still offering a solid...

Just watched The Harder They Come for the first time. Music, dope, badassery, sex & violence, police corruption, and The Man keeping the people down who make the music. Great stuff! The library DVD I had helpfully provided subtitles, but only when the Jamaican talk got too impenetrable. Rest in...Leave a comment:

Yeah, garlic, sesame seeds, salt, super greasy... I'm going to be sure not to buy them next Costco trip.
Speaking of garlic, Toom in the yellow carton has been more and more of a staple for me, going on sandwiches, salads, whatever....Leave a comment:

They also have these bagel chip snacks that are pretty deadly. Pure carb, soaked in oil, pretty well maximizes calories per weight, so ideal for backpacking; I try to keep them out of the house otherwise.
This may be the year when I upgrade my increasingly ancient ski helmet with one of...Leave a comment:

I dunno, maybe pick one:
(Yeah, I know; everybody's prediction models broke, subsequently, when the chart fell out of its trading range. Still, it's funny, and typical, how all of the predictions highlighted in the chart entirely assumed that the break-out would be in the...Leave a comment:

^ Sounds dubious to me. I thought the whole reason why AC-vinegar is effective for suppressing blood glucose spikes is that it's acidic. It seems that baking soda would neutralize that. Also, doesn't baking soda have the potential to alter blood pH? Though I suppose that would be counteracted by the...Leave a comment:
