On a positive note, snowplants!
Ok, that's probably not a positive thing but it's still a thing.

The only way I ever found and skied Pebble Creek was because I was searching for N facing BC lines driving north out of Salt Lake. On Gmaps I came across the lifts and realized I could tour from a resort. It's good for touring near or at a resort when you want to verify altitudes for snow level reasons....👍 1Leave a comment:

She was actually 2nd to Caitlyn McFarlane by a decent amount in the 2nd run.Leave a comment:

She's in 1st after half the first slalom run. It's snowing pretty good so I doubt anyone will catch her.

Outside TV is live streaming the men on youtube now (not sure if it's actually live though). Anyone know if they'll be showing the women?Leave a comment:

I'm going to throw out that they will open much sooner than either of you are saying. They aren't that far off and there will be almost round the clock snowblowing after friday, plus anything we get out of the storm. And no, they won't wait for a weekend if they can open sooner. I'm going with 12/3...Leave a comment:

They have had plenty of glop. Above 9k that is now base with loads of light snow on top

It’s not glop. Skied a few lines there today after some across the street. By far the best turns of the season

I think they’re trying to make up for the fact that they could be open

I got a somewhat late start today on the way to either Carson Pass or Kirkwood. It looked like the light was leaving E-back as I drove up the pass so I decided the Saddle or Vista at Kirkwood could be good in the afternoon sun.
When I reached Caples Lake the bluebird flew away.

Weirdly, Kirkwood seems to be promoting their uphill access on the social medias right now. I'm happy to pile on. Had to stop right below the wall because the dog is 75. It's also where the skintrack in that zone ended. Tomorrow I may be back sans doggie, although the round top/sisters zone looked fire...👍 3🥰 1Leave a comment:

Because there will be snow. The thing about global warming is that it's global. Sure, we are moving toward a warmer future. On average, the elevation at which a snowpack forms here may rise by 200-500' over the next 50 years. But the average will still be made up of good years and bad years. Warmer...Leave a comment:

Tried to get up to Rose summit yesterday, but the road was closed before Incline Viewpoint for the fatal accident on the other side of the pass. So I tried my luck with Blackwood Canyon. The road was open and there was plenty of snow. There was no base though and at that elevation it turned straight...Leave a comment:

There was enough for people to go play in the snow. About 4" when I got there but it was raining on earlier snow from about 8200 to 8800' when it turned back to snow so I suspect it was more. Turned sunny when I got there but I could only make one short run because work.
