In my neck of the woods, most of it is buried but not necessarily well-buried. I found a couple of tree runs yesterday to be on the loud side because I was hitting the refrozen crust layer underneath. I also talked to some good but lighter skiers who said they were getting enough float from the soft... -
Based on your first criteria, I've coached at least a few teenage ski racers who shouldn't be using poles.
On the second question: IMO, the smaller the kid, the better skier they should be. I'd tend towards linked carved turns as an indication they might be ready for poles, but mine are...Leave a comment:
