WTB: cheap old tech bindings
Cheap and old - because,
these are going on super old / poor geometry waxless 90-waisted skis. In fact I’m not even sure if I will ever throw skins on them, so these will see somewhat limited vert and be used more to cover ground and literally meadow skip. Under my 140 lbs, maybe 160 maybe... -
No one talking about the Spesh X 2 Chainz collab?
Spesh and 2 Chainz lighting it up
Actually I think this looks pretty interesting, and if I rode in the bike park I would want to try this thing.

As another snowboarding dad whose body is catching up with Father Time, fairly behind Buzz …
For a soft sunny day versatile and fun as hell ski, maybe don’t leave the Blizzard Rustler 9 off your list.
I haven’t actually tried the 9s (old or current) yet, and I do own the old...Leave a comment:

Yeah, like 5 mm compared to 2.5mm on a Pivot GW. I had a set of skis I loved with Pivot Dual WTR/Alpine bindings (2 mm delta), mounted them with Duke PTs only 7mm forward of the Pivot mount and hated feeling like I was falling over the tips and overdriving the skis.
Instead of remounting them,...Leave a comment:

I’m skate curious.
How are skate shoes sized?
My hard and soft sole bike shoes are 42.5.
My alpine and AT boots are 25.5, which I think would be more like a EU40.5.
My tele boots are 26.5 but I use those for slow backcountry nordic.Leave a comment:

Who has a hookup for Strive 13D plates?
Figured I had to ask. My local shop says Amer won’t sell them any.
I would absolutely love to be able to buy 2-3 more sets of Strive 13D plates … I know I’ve got a better chance just buying cheap rental fleet skis and ripping the bindings off of them …
I finally got... -
Ahh. All good to know.
I no longer have family in Tucson.
And it’s been waaaay too long since I’ve pedaled outside of Hurricane/Virgin. One time I remember surfing my Forester through that wet sandy clay coming up Goose from the Apple Valley side after a rain, another time I remember...Leave a comment:

Right on. I’ve always ever blasted through Vegas on my way to pedal/hike/canyoneer St G/Zion area … but I’ve long been curious about the trails on the west side of town. Didn’t realize that there are cool riding trails on the southeast side too!Leave a comment:

Is Cañada de Oro trail rebuilt and open?
I hiked Sweetwater once and never got a chance to bike it.
Good food in Tucson if you know where to look. The Barrio district is cool hangs, as are the big old town market (can’t remember what it’s called, I had family showing us around). ...Leave a comment:

Nice … and way to be a rad dad! Both of my kids have outgrown our Shotgun and MacRide seats.
I have fond memories from those ages.

Another low odds thing that probably is not worth worrying about:
In Oregon studs are only legal 11/1 through 3/31. Which is dumb because for powder hounds hitting the passes at 6-7 AM, especially for BC touring starting early AM, the roads are often still crap even in early May. Of course by...👍 1Leave a comment:

California uses a different set of laws than Oregon. In CA you must carry chains with you on all vehicles when driving over highway passes regardless of tires. This is commonly enforced. In R2 conditions, vehicles must have chains OR 4x4 with snow tires. R3 is chains on all vehicles period.

Yeah.
Similarly, in Oregon chains are required above 10k GVWR when signs are flipped. A modern F350/3500 will typically be above that, but no one has ever heard of it being enforced. I would take a gander that it’s the same for Class Bs, and perhaps even typical sizes Class Cs. They are really...Leave a comment:

Hakka LT3s are designed for heavy loads. The studs shouldn’t be a problem under a Sprinter as long as Mercedes didn’t undersize the tire spec. Doesn’t Hood River get more freezing rain than we do in the Valley due to how offshore cold air funneling out the Gorge clash with moist onshore warm fronts?...Leave a comment:
