I just put a new tire on before this trip so sealant was fresh.
The last couple months I had been battling with a batch of homebrew sealant I made using a new brand of latex that didn't mix well with water. Went back to the OG brand. The only problem was it got cold enough the water...

My original plan had been to finish the Dragoons bikepack by mid day, drive an hour over to the Chiricahua's and then start pedaling for another overnighter there after lunch. Should have known that would not happen, hahaha.
I made it to the other area right at sunset so I just camped,...Leave a comment:

Yup. I have them on during all waking hours at home, and probably will until March. They were awesome to wear evenings and early mornings while camping as well.
I was back at costco tonite and picked up one of these shirt jackets. https://www.costco.com/p/-//4000346894 Wearing it...Leave a comment:

TL;DR on the route:
I really liked the shortened version. The singletrack was challenging and scenic. About half of it was rideable and half hike a bike on the climb up, headed west. If heading east it would be mostly hike a bike but since it is a shorter distance to Cochise summit the...Leave a comment:

Second day....
I usually go to bed late, so I was awake early having instead been asleep by 9. Fortunately I was able to turn over and get some extra sleep even after the sun was up. It took awhile for temps to warm up.
Of note I had gone to bed using my bivy sack, but...Leave a comment:

The saga will get epic when Hertz gets the rental car in its possession and sends it through an AI scanner, after which it will try to saddle you with the "expense" of every miniscule scratch and ding on the whole car as well as the already separated bumber, cuz why not? Apparently, that is...Leave a comment:

Finished my beer and went to bed. Pretty much as soon as I did that the wind kicked up, so much that my truck/wedge camper was getting rocked hard. Had to put the wedge down and sleep in the cab. You win some, and lose some....Leave a comment:

Rather than drive all the way home I stop off near Yuma for a final night of camping on the way home from AZ. Find a nice spot, crack a beer and sit down to enjoy the beautiful sky and night temps.... And proceed to get dive bombed by mosquitos. WTF???...Leave a comment:

Canada del Oro is permanently closed as far as I know. It got hit by fire and then some massive flooding.
As for UT camping, the road into Gooseberry got improved by the county along with Crybaby hill. I don't think rain is an issue on those roads anymore. On the downside, they are...Leave a comment:

Someone did this all along one of our local trails 6-7 yrs ago. I mean thank god, I never would have made it to the other end of the trail! (even though there are no intersections)
