The waybacks are fine skis. I wouldn't say they're particularly smearable, though. I got some Dynafit Free 97s for more smearability. You might look at the Dynafit Radical line. They make a 88 version, and it definitely has more tail rocker than the wayback.

Shitty snow in AK is wet/heavy? Totally windblasted? For wet and heavy, some width and tip/tail rise for smearability is helpful. For windblasted, most things are ok.
