I long ago learned that following another set of tracks might get me in trouble, its all on the end loser IME/ IMO

edit: Group of kids got cliffed out in the local side country so patrol asked me to do the work of putting up rope cuz they stay in-bounds and didnt really know or want to have anything to do with whats going on out there, I duno what would happen if they need a rescue out thar. So they gave me a buncha rope I went out on skins hung it all, a good way to really know your side country is to walk the line or even put it up yourself, a bit of self interest cuz I have also missed that traverse and cliffed myself out ... had to hike/ swim back

I always took a much harder line when the closure being violated was an in bounds avi closure.
2 weeks on the bench was the minimum, the "I was following other tracks" brought additional ridicule and the offer of an additional week off for being a dumb fuck.

Newbs following tracks at any ski hills, especially with excellent skiers/boarders at places like Whistler/blackcomb/ Jackson etc will get u killed. Blaming others and not being accountable for your actions = not being responsible for your own actions.
