Holy hell Daviski! Sending vibes your way, hoping the flight home goes as smooth as it can. I had a friend badly break his leg at Alta recently and he had to fly to Denver for his insurance to cover surgery. Fucking brutal.

Wrapped up a week in the Wasatch with a few days at PowMow with family. My aunt and uncle had slopeside accommodations which was quite the treat for this dirtbag.

This lift might be cooler as a detach next year

Best wishes Daviski! Hope all goes as well as possible! I went out last season mid January, nothing sucks as much as not being able to ski [emoji24]

Damn, Daviski, makes my experience from a couple weeks ago seem pedestrian. Best wishes for a speedy, comfortable recovery.

Tough week for Mags near and far, as well as non-mags. Vibes to all impacted.

While I agree in general, a Tecton/Vipec releases reliably like an alpine binding. I’ve seen people skiing hard inbounds on lightweight pin bindings with the toes locked, one fall away from life altering injuries

They're the exception. All other pin bindings do not offer lateral release initiated from the toe. That may or may not matter to you given your ability level, terrain you are skiing, etc. I don't know OP, I've never skied with him before, and I can't assess whether or not pin bindings were a good choice for him to be skiing solitude in.

Well, the line he died on is skiable, although I'd argue it's not close to doable right now by a mere mortal. Odds are he was lost but there is a small small chance he could have purposefully tried to ski it. I'm guessing it was sunny and not cloudy that day? Maybe a cornice broke under him as he tried to see what chute he was above and threw him in the chute?

The terrain can be gnarly on that peak. It's out of bounds so ski patrol can't put cliff signs up which could prevent deaths. I'm glad they let you ski the terrain off that peak though but it's even more consequential feeling and scary from the top.

Davski, good luck getting home. Who knows if your bindings broke your legs but damn it's an easy guess they probably did. Sorry man. I hope it's a short flight.

I hope that didn’t come off as judgmental, was being sympathetic as I have skied pin bindings in bounds before I knew how dangerous they can be. Trying to spread awareness
