    2021/22 CND rockies thread

Looks like the banff alpine racers are planning on doing a ski swap this year. Simple info is 2 weekends. 9-11 (thanksgiving) and the 16-17. will be following what ever rules are in place, and will cancel if needed

Also the https://www.indyskipass.com/ now includes both jasper and castle (plus 70+ other places). Its $300 US right now and gives 2 free days at each/every hill listed and 3rd day discount.

$300 US ~ $400 CND = and you ONLY use castle/marmot then its $100/ day each to ski them, so thats a few bucks off. Assuming we can drive to 'Merica then its a hell of a road trip

That's some vintage over-compressed mid-naughts video if I ever saw it.

New skis arrived today. Can't wait to bash them against every rock I find /s

        Over-compressed and under-appreciated.

Just took a look at the U8 BAR fees. WOW! 2k+ + for U8….no way my kids would be in that program today….w did Quickies for 5 years in the early/mid-2000’s.

Thanks for heads up on swaps. My jacket and ski pants are from BAR Swap in 2004 that I worked. Need to update the look a little.

I'm sure most of you who purchased the Mountain Collective last year have already seen the email, but if not, they are running their "Canadian At Par" sale again. Get the pass for $US449 rather $US589.

Here's the link (Mountain Collective At Par) to the sale

Not sure if a stateside road trip is on the books this season, but I’ll keep that in mind.

Couple weeks off work here on the Coast.

You guys are usually a couple weeks ahead, anyone getting out?

Well we aren't on the coast.

But also I don't think there's been more than a dusting of snow around here yet.

Why does ski season really start in the coast? Rock ski conditions don't count in my book.

Many years a combination of NW flows and some upslope events means that early Rockies skiers are getting marginal turns in, whereas the blocking high offshore PNW is usually hanging in there through mid October keeping the Coast dry. Hence why it seems we’re usually starting a few weeks ahead. But I also think this as much about attitude as climate. I mean we’re usually high fiving after 15cm “dumps” so...

In any case it’s still too marginal (<5cm at tree line) now for even dumbfucks like me to shred scree and gravel pocked glaciers. Looking ahead it might be a few weeks still...

I was up high hiking over the last couple days around Kananaskis Lakes. Starting to look adequate on the North sheltered aspects. Especially if there is old snow patches. Know thy patches
