    I hope not, but if so, thanks for the memories.

      Seriously, her schedule is ridiculous and her mom sounds like a control freak, so I won't be surprised if she burns out.

      Recently on the podcast The Powell Movement, Darren Rhalves was saying how he invited her and a bunch of US ski team peeps over for a BBQ at his place here in Truckee when the team was training at Squaw. Everyone came but Mikaela and her mom, because she was too busy and had to be in bed by 8:30 and it was too far of a drive (it's 15 minutes from Squaw to Truckee). This was like mid to late May, mind you. He seemed a little baffled by the whole thing.

      She's an incredible skier but I wouldn't want to trade places.

        She should be the boss now.

        If she wants to be home more, be home more. Team don’t like it, pound sand. She’s earned any, and I mean a n y amount of slack she wants. Period.

            Pretty simple. Either you love what you are doing, or you don't. Maybe a break from the sport, and if she feels that desire and sense of missing the sport, she can jump back in. It's not like she's 35 and at the end of her career.

              I can attest to losing a parent and having a refocus on what really matters.

                  I'm with yeti, and the Bode program is fine w/ me. Whatever she wants.
                  I mean what a fucked up situation. Dad dies, she gets her shit together, and is about to race, and they cancel the season 'cuz COVFEFE.

                    Tough times don’t last and tough people do........she is a tough woman
                    Hoping she finds her way in her head and the passion comes back to compete and want to win.
                    Bode program is what she needs and as someone already said she has earned it for sure. Hope we get to see her on the podium again.

                      I am with i-as on this one --

                      couple of considerations :
                      they have mostly always been Very selective about the races MS skis - she does not enter every event ;
                      No disrespect to Bode - I came to greatly admire and appreciate Bode - And MS is no Bode. If she is racing, she is racing to win And ski Great - But for eight years she's been winning ! ;

                      this season,
                      flying back-and-forth is a special challenge - this is why the NA races are in Europe
                      ( they can set-up a base and she can race more selectively, but the risk with covid is if you fly home, you may not get back ) ;

                      Ingemar is one of my heroes , and
                      Lindsey paved the way
                      ( and Anne-Marie was before my time ) ,

                      Mikaela is as Good a ski racer as there has ever been
                      ( Killy had A perfect season And a perfect Olympics ( with an assist in the slalom - that probably would not have happened outside of France ))

                      Mikaela is as Good a ski racer as there has ever been.
                      ( I believe her goal is 2022 : 3x champ )

                        Her mom won’t let her train with the rest of the team. It’s pretty sad to see all the girls suffer from not being able to train together.

                          I just think she needs a little time to process the loss of her dad and to refocus. I agree with the others here, it's her team and can call the shots for what will fit her at this time. But, she also needs to manage her mom and the control she has over her. From her mom's side, MS's skiing career is probably what she's leaning on to try to cope with losing her husband. They probably need to compromise on some things if MS is to continue at some point. Mostly, though, she needs some time to refocus would be my sense of things.

                            She should pull a Jordan and take a year off.
