Nope, I was never royalty.
2 Celebrations of life on Wednesday 12/10/2025.
Chaz Thomas (RIP) passed this summer, former DB King, former Sgt. that served in Nam, rabid skier and old school Big Sky local. On the hill for part of the day then at Scissorbills around 3:00.
Phil Capy (RIP) passed about a month ago. Former ski patroller and one of the worlds most interesting men. Wrote screenplays for TV back in the late 50s, hung out with Coltrane and Parker in NYc. Came to Big Sky from Oregon in his 60s and patrolled until his late 80s!

Those were the Big Sky salad days. I was in Hill from around 1997 until 2006. Great location during the winter, kinda sucked during the shoulders. Jake was a damn good operator, snow or dirt, I believe he is now back grooming and building trail in the summers.Leave a comment:

Oh man. Big lie snow report has been a thing for at least 25 years. I miss the days of having a direct line to the upper tram station. Bunion you remember a guy named Jake who used to run the park crew 15-20 years ago. Hill condo guy. We used to get winch cat ups way back. Anyways have a good season everyone.

Glad that BBowl has the old school snow phone manned by flesh and blood. The wildlife segments on the Daily Video are also choice… a throwback to Marty Stouffer’s Wild America.

I was talking w a chef owner complimenting him on his places doing well a few weeks ago.
"Letting the passion breathe" is what he said. Quickly became the saying of the month.Leave a comment:

The reports have been pretty bland this year. Marinating clouds might be just what we need.Leave a comment:

26" on Lobo and Lookout Ridge is pretty good considering how warm and dry November was. That said, "Eli" is full of shit.

^^^ BS snow report which Open Snow pulls their # from is pretty much just made up at this point. The only true way to know is from looking at actual weather station wind/snow data or just driving up there and finding out.
Also the snow reports recently are either AI or homie is writing them from a stool at the Spoke at 1:45am.

Good morning Big Sky, this is Eli with your daily conditions report and what a storm system has been the last few days here at Big Sky. In the last three days we have seen 11" inches of snow, and since 4 p.m. last night another 1"-2" inches fell again.
Today we will see a low in the storm and clouds in the sky building back up into another storm cycle starting up possibly Monday night into Friday this upcoming week. So let the clouds marinate and stay tuned as the sky will once again be dropping some of mother nature's snowmaking on us soon."Leave a comment:
