Push the Envelope: Heritage Labs RC85 and RC95

    RC85 and RC95:
Paradigm Breaking hard-snow skis for Enlightened Skiers

Black then white are all I see in my infancy
Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me
    Lets me see
    There is so much more
And beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities
As below so above and beyond, I imagine
Drawn outside the lines of reason
Push the envelope, watch it bend
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind
Withering my intuition leaving opportunities behind

And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been
    Spiral out, keep going
Many of you know I’ve been chasing the perfect narrow skis in my quiver for a long time. Look at the guff I’ve received in the Dynastar thread for proof!

    The design brief was simple:

Build the highest performance all-mountain skis that challenge what is possible on a “narrow” ski from a surf & float perspective, but still allow for angulated, athletic skiing.

Skis that can be set on edge and leave clean arcs.

Skis that can handle high-speed WRODs all day.

And yet also drift turns, pivot in moguls, glide in powder, and surf slush.

Skis that are dampened enough to handle 50MPH on a groomer … but with enough pop, snap, and rebound to fly edge to edge in in high edge angle carves.

Skis that are stiff enough to support a healthy diet of back squats and ribeye steaks… but supple enough to not be an “ass-rapey plank” (Credit to Norseman on that term).

Skis that can roll a SG turn… but comfortably bend in to an SL arc with the right tip pressure.

We are excited to introduce the RC line to the maggot collective:

Technical skis that pull in the right elements of the FL and FR line.

MIND-EXPANDING SKIS FOR CULTURED SKIERSBuilt for those with discerning tastes that favor classic race ski builds and geometry, the RC95 deploys something unique in skiing today -- A ski that is equal parts traditional as it is cutting edge.  If you crave the high-performance charging skis of yesteryear, and similarly s

    Summary:

A daily driver for western mountains on the lee side of the ridge, where a big storm is 6” not 16”. A surfy shape that allows blended high edge angle carves along side drifted slarves as needed. If you ski at Mission Ridge, Panorama, Schweitzer, Discovery Basin, or Big Sky - this is your ski.

    Marshal’s blurb:
    MIND-EXPANDING SKIS FOR CULTURED SKIERS
Technical all mountain skis enter a new paradigm. Instantly intuitive, extremely versatile, and ridiculous edge feel. Nothing compares. Only offered in a single 187cm length.
    Inspirational skis:

Head Mojo 94, OG Legend Pro, Legend 94, Monster 98, Blizzard Bonafide.

    Design components:

FL105 style construction & snow feel.

    Clean sheet profile and shape.

Hat tip to R99 Comp, but with further refinement.

    Specs:

    187 CM
    26.7m radius
    125-95-115
    Standard Mount: -10.5cm (83.4cm from tail) +/- 1cm
Subtle tip and tail rocker paired to 2.5mm per ski of camber
Freeride ski construction (Poplar/Bamboo + VDS + Fiberglass)

    Graphics:

Radiance from the soul… a spiritual journey to a new dimension.

HIGH-PRESSURE HEROS Technical all-mountain skis enter a new paradigm. The RC85 is instantly intuitive, extremely versatile, and has a ridiculous edge feel.  Pull g-forces like a fighter pilot and drift like a rally car.  The RC85 exists at the intersection of modern ski shaping and traditional race geometry and build r

    Summary:

A technical ski for the non-nerds in the world. A ski you can grab when it hasn’t snowed in a long while and you want to feel high-g turns on hard snow, but also be able to dip off-piste and sniff out chalk, or chase bumps in a proto corn cycle. Dare I even say these will be one of the best < 90mm waist powder skis on the market?

East coast DD. West coast high pressure for a month but you’re not ready to submit to pressures of Nordic Skiing or Ice Fishing.

Most 85mm skis are either a detuned/neutered version of the wider ski in its given line up for rental use, or an over the top wannabe race ski (complete with race graphics and a system binding.) This style of ski tends to be paired with an extreme amount of camber, and a very hooky sidecut (< 17m) paired with extreme torsional stiffness that makes them very one dimensional beyond making the turn the ski wants.

I’ve owned a lot of those wide technical skis, and they are fun in a narrow subset of conditions but I never feel like I can enjoy the entire mountain… and certainly can’t let the skis run how I want.

Dude, the RC95 sounds amazing. Right in the wheelhouse of what I was looking for after the R99 Comp went away. Nice work and stoked to hear more.

Lol, I literally just bought two pairs of HLs (fl105s and fr110s) and was thinking this morning that a skinny all-mountain ski would really round out the collection.

Topsheets look rad (especially the 85), and shape looks dialed. Thankfully for my wallet and my marriage the 85 doesn’t come in a 175ish length.

Both sound awesome, with fl105s incoming I think the rc85 would make more sense for the firm days that we get too many of. We need a Pnw mag fleet with at least one of everything for science.

Same except I need a big boy size. Currently running 187 Brahma’s for this. I would LOVE a 191 88 class ski.

            The 182 should be ample.

            I am 5’10 and > 200lbs.

            Marshal is > 6’ and > 200lbs.

The 182 length is a deliberate choice to allow to ski in ways you can’t on your long skis.

EE is likely longer than your Brahma, and the stability definitely will be.

As an owner of the elusive 182cm r87 comp, I can say at 6’ 200lbs I’ve never wanted more ski length. I’d guess these rc85 will be similar

Agreed. There's no top end to those. Really impressed with these new designs, and the graphics are acidically breathtaking.

Boom. I'm covered for now with my special R-nanny-nines but it's good to see a followup to what became the one-off batch.

What ski did I call an assrapey plank? Big Dumps??

Gotta find it, it was in relation to me wanting a ski that charged harder than the OG 191 Billygoat. I gotta find that thread, it was hilarious.

So similar flex profile as the FL105 (shovels about same as R87/99 Comps, with softer R87/99 AM tails)?

Shorter lengths eventually available for those of us << 200 lbs & 6ft?

                        Those topsheets!

Marshal said no one buys < 180cm skis but maybe you guys saying you’d want one will sway him.

I’ll let Marshal speak to the exact flex profile voodoo.

well fuck - at what point do I just give Marshal all my money to keep on top of all these truly awesome offerings? I just wish I could afford to order some Heritage Labs ski this week - such killer prices for seemingly nigh on perfect skis

And thanks for inspired graphics - so much better than the various twirly patterned ones
