Seems like a significant enough change in the system that it's time to start a new thread. You can find 30 + pages of chatter about the old system, along with a couple of pages of speculation and observations about the the latest iteration over in the 2017 CAST touring system thread.

I am hoping that the new toe design will solve some of the problems I have had over the years - any need an extra 1.0 second ski kit?

Highlights that I have seen so far:
    - no more posts, should make mounting less fussy
    - new touring toe, might be less prone to failing
    - dedicated touring AFD (included, not a $15 option)
    - said to be a tweaked brake retainer
    - I think the toe puck will be conducive to use with inserts = flat skis again!
    - 2nd ski kit is $5 cheaper than the 1.0 version

Looks like the launch came with some slick new website content as well: a Mounting tutorial, and a guide to the AFD options (both included). The "Field Guide" video shows the transition process between skiing and touring.

Eagerly awaiting my tracking number email.

I'm excited to try out 2.0, 1.0 worked very well for me but I'm a bit concerned about the long term support/parts availability for 1.0.

So has anyone actually ordered a new kit? Interested to hear some real world reviews, especially from those moving from 1.0 to 2.0.

Someone had mentioned a weight savings in the alpine toe pieces of around a half pound each? If that’s true that is huge.

How the fuck is that even possible? That's more than 200g per piece, for those of us with a metric persuasion.

No clue. Material change in the toe base plate? Is the pivot itself newly designed and potentially lighter?

I found the instagram post directly from Lars stating a 242g weight savings in the toes. Unclear if that’s each, or combined.

Gotta be combined. P18 Toes with the 1.0 system were ~515g, cutting that in half seems impossible.

Maybe if the the standard Pivot towers are steel vs. machined aluminum? Steel has a density of ~8g/cc, 3x Aluminum at 2.7g/cc.

They said on IG weight loss is 242 grams for ski mode and 92 grams for touring mode. They don’t specify if that’s per pair or binding. I originally read that as per binding as that’s how they always list their weights, but it could be for the pair.

One thing I've always wondered is: why they don't slide the heelpieces off for up as well. Just a climbing bale in front.of the heelpiece, and it just comes off for the up.

It looks overall smaller with the new plate

Don't know how many units were on sale but the v2 upgrade kit is sold out.

They would need to redesign and manufacture the whole baseplate assembly, which is such a clusterfuck to even think about.
