I just learned there's a difference between "classical" and "traditional" acupuncture and the former is what to look for. YMMV. Something about your pulse. And your tongue?!t1
Rolfing method actually involves school and The Anatomy Coloring Book and real sciency things. Not that my mom (so yeah, I'm biased here, but seeing someone locally has made a huDge difference in my life) isn't into woowoo shit, but I think with boomers it's either that or Fox News. So I'll count myself lucky.

Glad to hear you are ok!

WRG - I'm having rotator cuff surgery on the 25th. I fucked up my left shoulder in my bike crash 1.5 years - broken bones and surgery. My right never felt quite right and just won't get better. Finally got an MRI and I have a full tear in the rotator cuff in the right shoulder. It didn't help matters when my kid and I hit skis at 40+ mph and my ski released and I went down hard on that shoulder. I could barely use my arm, and then bruising slowly worked its way down from the shoulder into my chest. Something tore more.

I want a functional arm again. 6 weeks in a sling and up to 5 months before the repair is strong enough to risk a fall on it again. I'm hoping to hike a lot this summer but won't bike until fall. I'm focusing on what I'll gain, not the time I'll lose.

The GF will be taking a few days off work and she works from home anyway and can give me a ride if I really need it. I drove myself from UT all the way home to MT in a sling after my initial injury.

I hear that. Hope your surgery goes well. Luckily work has been good and I'm just gonna stay busy with it this summer and hopefully have another banner year and then go to JP to ski and/or NZ to bike next winter.

I didn't realize there was a difference, I may have got them mixed up, any how buddy put 18 pins in knuckles/ wrist/ elbow/ shoulder up into hair line, sometimes hooked them up to Tens, leave them in for 45 min, get more range of motion

From what I have seen, every shoulder surgery is more than kind of different. There are a shit load of moving parts in a shoulder that all need to function and function together.

IMO, PT, Sports Massage, Acu & Dry Needling and strength training along with a focus on better posture all play major roles.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

                        Well, yeah.
Mine was/is complicated by ankylosing spondilitis. So that's fun.
Keep in mind that sports massage and rolfing are different, just like dry needling and acupuncture are different.

I think he's tried all the hippie shit.

                          Get

                          Fucking

                          Cut

The lengths people are willing to go through to avoid surgery is just silly. It's not like we're talking about an ingrown toenail. At some point having to scrub turds off of your thumb because you've been using the other arm to wipe your ass for two years has got to get old.

I wasn't suggesting all that to avoid surgery. I was suggesting that as part of the recovery process.

Surgery has been scheduled for a week maybe. 4/19. Just trying to mitigate pain at this point so I can enjoy the next 10 days somewhat. Was supposed to head to UT today to ride my bike....bailed. Shoulder hurts too much. Fucking sucks. I need a vacation. Oh well. Way she goes bub.

I have been avoiding this thread, partially out of optimism that my situation would resolve itself, and partially not to concern WRG.
Basically, I had surgery on my shoulder in Jan. to ‘fix’ a previous surgery. Well, I gambled and I lost, as my shoulder now is basically destroyed, and I need a total replacement.
Ironically, I rode better, faster, stronger, and In more control in Peru last year than I ever have been in my life.
As of today, it’s looking increasingly likely that I basically can’t ride this year, which is hugely depressing at 57. (How many years could I possibly actually shred again, even with a full recovery by ‘25?).
I’ll post more details, but I am in a world of hurt, physically and psychically.
Could be way worse, and I have a lot of other things to be thankful for, but it has been rough.
