Ive been trying to think of a tongue in cheek reason why it would be a good reason to include America's Hat in the rest of Her outfit... but im honestly stumped. Its pretty dialed already- easy border crossing, great exchange rate for me, speaks english (fuck quebec give it back to france), has weed, my medical insurance works well there. There just isnt really much to complain about... the relationship is pretty dialed already IMO.

I guess the only reason id want to take it over is so that my professional licensure would work there by comity, and id also change the speed limit signs to freedom units (right now im honestly flying blind just trusting the speed of the cars around me).

Ok my bad I responded to a stupid whataboutism with another even more out of date. Though I don't get your logic, American oil companies are owned by Canadian interests in a range 3-5% so they are no way responsible for the actions of those companies . Its up to the US gov't to regulate what they do offshore. Just in the same way Canadian oil companies that might have 30-40% US ownership are still Canadian companies. Though Canadian oil companies have overall trivial ownership outside of NA.

Yes and no. Americans are responsible for the actions of your elected gov't as you guys elected them. If it was a dictatorship that's a different story. Most countries are though the US seems to think its a special case. There was a South Park episode on that. As long as 1/2 of the people complain no one is responsible.

I could give a pass 8 years ago when Trump was an unknow quanity but in 2024 he was known. The majority of Americans elected a man who almost all of his cabinet said he was a retard and he did extactly what he said he was going to do and did it to current allies and long term trading partners. Yes if Canada has a $100billon trade surplus with US its because we ship 1.6 billion barrels to the US plus some gold . If you don't want it from us then give use time to build the pipelines to sell it to china. We can even put a export tax on it to pay for the pipelines. I'm at the point that we should really distance ourselves from the US commercially and security wise. Our only real threat is the US and it always have been . The last time the US was thinking of invading Canada was in the 1930s so not that long ago.
