      Career percentages are more stark:

      Tatum .375

      Booker .357

I would be curious to see their percentages on catch and shoot 3's. But Tatum shot 3's at an even higher rate when he was younger and didn't handle the ball as much, so I expect we'd see a similar disparity.

Tatum had essentially the same amount of assists this year as White. He was the number one rebounder and pts scorer on the team. The guy is a well rounded player. I don't understand not playing him at all.

I like Tatum and I hope he has a big game vs. France in the gold medal game. But he is not playing well at the moment. His shot is off. He's shooting under 40% from the field and 0% 3PT in the Olympics. He's missing wide open 3s. Booker by comparison is scoring on 56% of his shots and 61% 3PT. Normally a coach lets a player of Tatum's caliber play through a slump, just not in the Olympics.

The sample size is tiny. He also shot lights out in the last Olympics. Maybe he looks like shit in practice. But they way he has been treated is probably not helping. In game one Durant gets all the minutes after zero practices. In recent years Tatum has dominated their head to head matchups, especially in the playoffs. I know would be fucking pissed. So is it about winning? Or is Kerr feeding his buddies? Yet in Tatum's situation you can't complain. I hope it turns him into more of an asshole on the court. His mean streak isn't big enough.

KD was lights out in that game: 8-8 shooting, 6-6 from three in the first half. I don't think any coach would switch out a player with a hot hand like that. Kerr's calculus is probably pretty simple: I'm going to take a lot more heat for losing a gold medal than I am from fans for not playing certain players. Hence the diplomatic press conference "He's a total pro. He's First-Team All-NBA three years in a row. I felt like an idiot not playing him," while focusing on winning gold.

I think this is exactly wrong. Edwards (I forgot all about him! Another damn good defender) and Tatum are better players today than Steph and Durant (yeah, yeah, I know peak Steph and Durant are on a whole other level). Kerr clearly cares more about legacy than current ability. Ok. Fine. Or maybe he is playing "his" guys or the guys he trusts? But benching Tatum is too much. He's the best player on the reigning champs. 3 consecutive years 1st team all NBA. In a few years when they are recruiting players for 2028 guys will be asking, "You gonna bench me?" I promise Kerr won't be coach again.

As we stated up thread, and I’ve said in many other threads, (and as my wife has said at least five times during this Olympics), are all these track athletes supermodels?

                          It's an exceptional population.

Definitely the post-pandemic Olympics the world needed and deserved. Has the US ever dominated T&F like this?

                            i disagree in a sense..

i love anthony edwards, but he didnt play great today. i love steph.. but he hasnt played great until today. kd came in game one and lit it up. these arent 7 game series and the rotations reflect that

tatum hasnt played great from what ive seen in these olympics.. and theres just so much depth that you really can argue benching him. maybe not zero minutes, but id rather him not take away minutes from lebron, steph, kd, anthony edwards, etc.. you could argue hes better than booker but booker has been playing well so why bench him? its not like tatum sucks but when you assemble a cast of all stars and all time greats someone is going to have to sit on the bench and it just so happens to be him

This is a particularity strong year. We have 9 golds, 10 silver and 8 bronze as of right now. I think we have a decent shot at 3-5 more golds with what’s left.

                              In 2021 we only had 7 golds; 13 in 2016, 9 in 2012, 13 in 96, 12 in 1992.
