Yeah, I think we can safety say gravity is providing the speed in those events. I'm talking about sports that are human-propelled.

I played college wp and hate the game for this reason. Lawless thuggery. The whole game revolves around who gets away with the most shit.

This Olympics has been an absolute lifesaver for me. My in-laws decided to come visit in August in southern NV for reasons. My father has advanced Parkinson's, so we're already limited in activities as it is, but in the heat it's even worse. He's basically been watching the Olympics all day and it's kept him reasonably entertained. I've watched more than I have in years. I hear a lot of complaints about Peacock's streaming, but it's been amazing for me to be able to just pull it up and cast it to the big screen. Part of the reason I wasn't as into it in years past is that we don't have regular TV, so I'd only see highlights, streams, or when I was out. This year I've seen a ton. I love the feeling of being really invested in a sport in which 30 minutes before you didn't know the rules or competitors.

She says she's going in the 4x100. Probably the lead, right? This should be epic.

Excited for USMWP! Best team we have had since Azevedo’s prime. However - Serbia is going to be tough…

Hooper was held down by the cap strings getting knees to the face… one can understand why he swung…. but the ref had to punish the blatant retaliation. I’m sure the ref knew there were some shenanigans when he watched the replay, but didn’t have any confidence to eject that mouthguard fucker from AUS…

Impressive US defense. AUS had the 4 min of opportunity and were held to up by 2.

Meh… There’s certainly some brawling and pretend brawling going on. But from my 20+ years of playing the game; IME, your statement is quite the exaggeration…

You gave a good example of my problem with the game. “The ref knew.” Really? You can literally get away with mayhem underwater because the ref can’t see it. The glare off the water makes it impossible to see.

I had multiple serious injuries and my teammates son who played D1 had his face completely smashed requiring surgery.

Maybe so, but have downhillers and lugers ever taken up the entire road by riding 3 across for no reason?

                        AI search for water polo:

“Water polo can be a physically demanding and competitive sport that involves some violence. Players can exhibit aggression by kicking, punching, scratching, biting, grabbing, head-butting, holding, and sinking. The most violent area of the pool is often in front of the goal, where defenders consistently pummel centers.”

Today's men's outta nowhere 400m race is badass! Tomorrow's women's 400m with Sydney vs. Femke should be good too.

That was almost as exciting as the 1500 finish!!

edit: whoops no spoilers for those who will watch it tonight
Also a super insane race!! He went from 5th out of the curve to storming home. Great story and what a progression he’s had over the last six years.

Norman is a head case and was never in it. Bummer.

Its been a tough few days for fans of US beach volleyball. Straight set loss after straight set loss, in elimination games. Very little to cheer about in match after match after match. NO medals for the US this Olympics

It was basically an American sport until the Olympics. The others have caught up now with pro tours and such.
