The run on QBs in the first round looks like desperation to me from a lot of teams. Who knows what Atlanta was doing.

Chargers ignore their WR needs at the #5 pick, Harbag is turning the team into a 3 yards and a cloud of dust running team. How does this makes sense with Herbert at QB? They should have traded him if this is how it's going to go.

Looks like the Niners are getting ready to offload Deebo, be interesting to see what they get for him.

Niners are not offloading Deebo. It would be Aiyuk if either of them and I don’t think that’s happening either. At least not this season. We needed another WR to potentially take one of those spots a year or two from now.

Teams with franchise QBs getting players that don't help those franchise QBs was the theme last night. Except for Chicago. They must be sending Atlanta a really nice fruit basket this morning letting Odunze get to them instead of taking him like they should.

I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I like the Nix pick for the Broncos. Mostly because I have this unfounded (so far) faith in Payton. A huge part of a quarterback’s success is how they are coached and given a chance to succeed. Zach Wilson may or may not be a NFL quarterback but he had zero chance with the shitshow that is the jets. I like Nix’s chances with the Payton as his head coach. And if he succeeds and is the long term solution at quarterback then this was not a reach at all. If he doesn’t then he joins the other 3 busts (statistically speaking) from this draft class.

What is the Jets factor here? Nix and Wilson are the same age and the other two are not much older and not any better. Who leads and mentors?

When you have a franchise QB, when is it ever the wrong move to get an elite offensive lineman? Really weird that you think that pick makes no sense.

Elite lineman makes sense for Harbaugh/Herbert, its just not as flashy as getting him a burner of a WR.

You can get good receivers farther down in the draft

Exactly. Not to mention historically the most consistent / non bust first round picks are on the offensive line, and isn't particularly close.

Josh Palmer is the Chargers WR1. Read that again. Josh Palmer.

If they're going to use Herbert's arm, they need a top pick right now. Protection is great but what is that worth when you don't have receivers to throw to? Getting a plug and play WR1 later on down the draft road is not a sure bet.

It’s way easier to find quality receivers in later rounds than OT’s.

First round receivers are far from a sure bet. Look at that chart

Plus its hard to find your first round receiver when you are laying flat on your back with Micah Parsons laying on top of you.

Someone should have reminded John Lynch of that Congrats to the Niners on the whiff at a pick that would actually help

exactly. that is why I find it really weird that he's saying it was the wrong pick.

A stud OL is NEVER the wrong choice, IMO. No QB looks like a franchise QB for long if he doesn't have time to throw.
