Hahaha. You're NOT wrong. Anywhere pretty much is an improvement. Especially this last August. A little perspective goes a long way.

On the plus side, being there has afforded me WAY more opportunity than a certain sellout mountain town would ever allow.

Just got to ATL a bit ago. Flew first class, picked up a new Audi A5 (last time they gave me a brand spanking new BMW X5), going to take some folks out for a fancy dinner/drinks tonight for work. Life could definitely be worse. That's the tradeoff for living in sucky places like TX. Economic opportunity. I'm much happier now. Mental health restored. 😎

It really, really has been. Took a few years to lick my wounds from getting dicked over in my last venture, but it feels goddam good to have someone FINALLY see my value, giving me a very real shot and a proper seat at the table... And it's been paying off big time for them, despite the Trump administration's best efforts to hamstring us. Work for a kick ass company too Maybe that's why they don't screw with me on my expenses. Hehehe.

this ^^ the ex-wife would think I was lucky to get a free plane ride to Toronto on some kind of course which was 3 hrs ahead so just about the time you get the time change figured out you got to leave, you get home REAALLY late, after a week or 2 or 3 of restaurant food and too much to drink that night the first thing she wants to do is go out for drinks

WTF? How about we enjoy the wonderful holiday of Thanksgiving before we jump into the hyper consumerism holiday.

I really like Thanksgiving and all that goes with it. The quiet reflection of the changing of the season. Kids making handprint turkeys. People gathering together for no reason other than to celebrate one another as and give thanks. Homemade pumpkin pie.

Way better than Christmas in my book.

I live in the Low Country to help take care of my last remaining in-law and when I move from here I want to live in a place I don't want to leave. Maybe road trips and such will be fine but getting on a plane.......fuck that.
This is why I spend the extra loot to make it suck as little as I can get away with. I make sure to treat the folks in my accounting department REALLY well so hopefully they let me slide with my expenses. So far, so good.

I book first class whenever the prices aren't too outrageous, book nice hotel suites, and rent "luxury" cars (a crapshoot sometimes). Getting the Delta Reserve card for lounge access has made layovers much more palatable. Now that I finally have decent status with the airlines/hotels/car rental places, travelling is at least pretty tolerable. Heck, with a teething baby at home, it's actually a nice break. Hehe.

It annoys me that getting an extra legroom seat in coach cost me more than the ticket price. Although flying to Rochester NY in January is pretty cheap, for obvious reasons. (My kid just moved there--also annoying--and we're going to try to take the 3 1/2 year old skiing.)

Our Cocker didn't eat weed--she unzipped our son's high school friend's gym bag, took out the baggie of dope, brought it downstairs to the living room and put it on the floor in front of my wife and me. Sat next to it and looked at us for a treat. 6 months old at the time. She's now at the farm upstate, with my wife's rabbit. (The rabbit did actually go to a farm upstate because it kept biting us.) (Yeah, I know I've told these stories more than once but my fans keep asking for repeats.)

I was looking at one way tickets leaving NYC to Southampton in late October 2026 for the misses, me and the pups on the Queen Mary. The price looks reasonable compared to a Business class fare and it would be one of those things that would be nice to do once in a lifetime. If the USA implodes from the 2026 mid-terms we will stay for awhile to see how stuff shakes out. Sounds win-win to me. I will have to run it by my best half to see what she thinks.
