But do you think it's possible Manny's doctor wouldn't have known, or checked to see about the drugs? What, his doctor doesn't know what Manny does for a living?? None of this is plausible--the guy was juicing.
Im not saying he wasnt juicing...im just saying I wouldnt rush to judge manny either way. The guy is a total retard, and has been absolutely raking since the mid 1990s. Hitting machine in high school too. His swing is basically flawless.
It doesnt mean he didnt do it, he just isnt someone who youd say-"yeah look at him...he did it" (Bret Boone)
I'm normally one to not rush to judgement about using banned substances but since its Manny: life time ban and I think this is a good enough indication that he has always been using so we should strip the Red Sox's of their titles as well (all of them even back to before the curse). And frankly I'm getting sick of the Boston teams and their cheating. So we should strip the town of all of their 17 NBA championships and the Superbowls. At least until they learn to drive.....

I just find it unpossible that Manny's doctor could've not known. Seriously, if some MLB player asked even me about taking a fertility drug (or even an asthma medication) I'd say, 'check on the banned substance thing because you don't want to get screwed.' I have no doubt Manny himself is screwball enough not to check/know.
Now I suppose it's possible Manny sees Dr. Nick, but I'd also think the Dodgers/Sox have same say in who his doctors are. To me the idea of a substance like this (known for use in steroid cycles) just accidentally being taken by him is a little too tough to believe.
I have no doubt that when he was with the Sox he was clean (that's my story, anyway).

Why is everyone so quick to judge Bonds, McGwire, Sosa (and Boone), but not guys like Manny, and... gasp... Big Papi? How is Bonds different from Manny? Hitting machine since the early 90s, his swing is basically flawless, etc., etc., etc. The thing I don't get is that both guys are dicks, but Manny somehow gets a pass from half the people posting in this thread even today when he fucking tested positive. How is the excuse of him trying to get his wife pregnant any better than Bonds' "I never knowingly took steroids, I just put some cream on my leg."
Let's throw another name out there... Bagwell. Noone really mentions his name, but remember what he fucking looked like early in his career and at the end where he probably coulda taken Jay Cutler's (the bodybuilding one) lunch and made him cry. Or, how about Luis Gonzales, he didn't look like he took 'roids, but look at his career HR totals, that 57 jack year is rediculous (I looked it up, here are the numbers throughout his career -- 0, 13, 10, 15, 8, 6, 7, 15, 10, 23, 26, 31, 57..., 28, 26, 17, 24, 15, 15, 8).
Goddamn, I'm bored today...
“Don’t want to sound like a dick or nothing but it says on your chart you’re fucked up. You talk like a fag, and your shit’s all retarded.”

Because Im not a Bonds homer apologist.
Have you seen the size of Bonds' head? The implications with BALCO? The lawsuits? The size of him in 1992 versus 2002? The type of player/number of home runs hit? and the distance they went? They hit well throughout their careers, but dont be naive- Bonds went from a hall of fame singles and doubles hitter to 73 fucking home runs. 73. Not 53. 73. Got sooo big he couldnt play defense.
Yesterday noone ever said "wow, Manny defintely juiced- his stats are so much different than in 1997" or "Manny's head has gotten huge" or "he looks way WAYYY more muscular than at the start of his career.
McGwire, Sosa, all never talk about it ("not here to talk about the past" ,"no hablas ingles") and hit many many more home runs than had ever been thought by either of them. Granted McGwire was always a power hitter but not to the degree in 1998. And they got HUGE. Muscles muscles and more muscles. Throw in Brady Anderson. Bret Boone tested positive after going for like 70, 60, 70, 141 RBI and blowing away any career power numbers. Luis Gonzalez's name has been brought up A LOT.
Papi's name has come up, just in speculation, But he's never tested positive. Noone has ever outright accused him. No grand juries, no nothing.
Finally, an easy question: Bonds took steroids and became a different player than the guy who won three MVPs in Pittsburgh. That guy was a great all-around, five-tool player, but not a freak in any way, slugging .600, hitting 35-45 home runs, stealing bases, and winning Gold Gloves. The older, steroid Bonds slugged .800, hit 70 homers, and batted .370. He was just a different guy. Ramirez, unless you believe he has always been juicing, has been the same guy his whole career- except, I suppose, the final third of last year, where he wasn't going so good in Boston, went to LA, and then morphed back into 1999 Manny. Apart from that, he's looked the same and hit the same since he was a phenom from Washington Heights. Maybe he just got on the cycle when his numbers started to fall off in what was likely to be the final contract year of his career but before the decline was so noticeable, or maybe he was always on the sauce. I don't know. If those are the two options, I choose the first as more plausible, but that's just, like, my opinion, man.
Also- Bonds was caught using steroids. Ramirez has not been, at least not yet.
As for his "doctor in Miami"- I don't know. More will come out, none of it will be satisfactory. A lot of guys in their late thirties like a little help, but unless his wife was also taking fertility drugs then it's more than a little suspicious. There's always an aspect of plausible deniability with Ramirez, because he is genuinely somewhat clueless about certain things. He's certainly not as airheaded as people think, but he's no rocket surgeon either; I think it's entirely possible that he trusted an unqualified person to look at the MLB banned-substances list and the guy blew it. (Dex, although teams would like to know and control what doctors their players see, they don't, and Ramirez was likely a free agent at the time anyway.)
I think it's widely accepted that Luis Gonzalez was a steroid guy.

Bagwell was a huge guy from the day he showed up in Houston. I watched his whole career. His numbers didn't change over his career anywhere nearly as dramatically as Bonds did, unless you count the drop-off when his shoulder fell apart. He was given exception from MLB to take some supplements (if memory serves) to try to regenerate the cartilage in his shoulder, but that was after his power dropped way off. I've met the guy, he has one of the most clearly painful baseball injuries I've ever seen, essentially his shoulder was bone on bone for a very long time, and he just played through it. Even if you look at him now, he's still a big guy. He's never been Canseco or Bonds comical big, though. His fielding ability at first proved that thoroughly.
Watching the Rockies broadcast today, the announcers had gotten the idea that this was from a doctor in the Dominican Republic before the season, and is used for male fertility as well. Makes the "I didn't know, he didn't know" at least a little more plausible, but still not very likely.
edit: I also think, as much of a shame as it is, that with Boras' influence and money, Manny probably beats this, whether he did it or not. I'd plan on a suspension, but I'll be surprised if it's actually 50 games. My money is on 10.
I've always been a Nuggs fan, it's all documented on this board. Just like your epic patheticness. Now somebody quote me so Mr. Pincher can't lie about not reading my posts.....

The guy is 38 yrs old not in his mid-twenties, the fact that we haven't seen any drop off in his performance is something worth being suspicious of. Very Clemensesque.
