    Golden, BC: eating, drinking, merriment

Greetings and thanks in advance for any opinions/recommendations regarding a place in Golden friends and I might meet apres for some quality gnoshing and imbibing. Ambiance counts. It'll be a large-ish group of us, maybe a dozen or so, looking for The Right Place to Chill after a KH day.
Anything you can offer re: the surroundings, the vibe, etc., is tremendously appreciated.

Not looking for lap dances (though what happens, happens), just a place to gather for some post-ski reverie.

    Fireplace is always welcome.

If a stripper pole counts for ambience then you're good. If you want a fireplace I'm guessing some places there will let you break up the chairs and start a fire outside the smoker's door.
It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy

I've only been to Golden once in '97,when & friend of mine lived there & KH was called Whitetooth & was 4 or 5 runs cut at the bottom of the mountain.

I really liked the place & the people.
      Calmer than you dude

I grew up there, and my parents owned the strip bar for 13 years, if you're looking for a fireplace and some entertainment all that jazz check out the Roadhouse Tavern (it's the peeler bar) later on if you're looking for a dance floor hit up Packers Place and if you're just looking to chill in a cabin like ambiance that's super relaxed head over to the Mad Trapper.

Since you're open to lap dances, remember to ask about 'Fresh Meat Monday'!

I have heard these words all seperately but never put together in a sentence like that. You must have been super popular in high school. Good on ya!

me thinks the "Golden Boy" is lurking here from reading one of SBC skiers articles. If so, cool to have some Canadian talent on this board.

                  Indeed. Welcome...

Back to the topic, the Eagle's Nest up on the top is supposed to be super posh, and I'm quite sure they have a fireplace.

It seems to be open only until 3pm Sunday-Thursday but not sure if thats just for food or includes bar. Its great for lunch and not that expensive.Pretty reasonable for the quality of food you get.

be warned that golden is in general pretty crass. be sure to bring truckers caps, lots of intestinal gas and probably some cocaine. check out the Moberly pub for cheap wings on Thursdays, the Roadhouse for the "Greet the Meat" show Monday afternoon right after skiing, The Trapper for disgustingly cheap bacon cheeseburgers (can't remember which night) and Packers...I don't know what to say about packers. There's a new "loungy" bar in town, I think it is called Omega or something. Its alright...nothing spectacular. The Eagle's Eye on the hill is really nice, albeit spendy. For a great breakfast hit Jita's up and have a Jita Burrita. So good.

Thanks powslut. Yes, got an idea of Golden's "earthiness" in a Powdermag cover feature on the town (December 2003). And that'll work. The deal is skiing first, of course. Just trying to get a sense of what's available.
                            Crass has its place, too.

Did I sell you like 8 pairs afew years back? Mine , well they're retired. First edge shot I repaired with epoxy and held fine on second try. Second edge shot just too big for me to repair. I got a supper deal on them so really paid less than the bindings were worth. Bindings ended up in a better place , a pair of Bigs 192.
