Dumpster bike build Trek Remedy 2014

A bit of work, a bit of time, a lot of dumpster-diving, a bunch of accumulating spare parts in bins & inspiration from cheapskates the world over. Spare parts from FB Marketplace, Pinkbike, Craigslist and Ebay.

Thanks to Obsession, BicycleHub, Shar, Jude and everyone else who helped me live the life and accumulate the stuff I deserve to become accustomed!

2017 RockShox Pike non-boost 27.5 140mm travel – creaky CSU fixed with green loctite (thanks Bicycle Hub) –> Bicycle Hub dumpster

Pull the lowers and pack with rice. Pop in the oven for 20 minutes and it will ride like new for another few months.

I've been involved in three dumpster bike builds. One went to John Baldwin (my ski touring mentor and as a big a cheapskate as me). Another to a deserving broke-ass trailbuilder. I'll ride this for a bit then pass it along to a deserving trailbuilder. Seems like the right thing to do

Bike rides well. STA is slack af because the Seat tube is bent. Because I have long legs my seatpost is high so the effective STA is more like 71 deg as opposed to the Trek stated 74 degs. The large Trek frame is OK for me.

Put another $ 40 into the bike by buying beer for the shop.

$ 45 for green loctite for the creaky CSU

$ 100 for a 150mm internal dropper to be purchased then offset by selling the 125mm internal dropper.

So it will come in around $ 360- 420 Cad

Brings back fond memories of the parts bike this place did a few years ago. Never did find out what became of that thing.
