There is a great run of swell lining up for this weekend down here. I'm going to try to wrap things up early tomorrow and hit up the Trestles kingdom.

This weekend does look pretty good. It was slow to start today but should be solid through next Tuesday. Then maybe hurricane swell to follow? The next 2 weeks could line up pretty well.If you haven't gone yet, bring some extra rubber. Water temps dropped about 10 degrees since last weekend.

No kooks in the line ups I was in the last few days. For sure wetsuits, but meh

Been a solid run of south swell Mon-Wed this week. No pics but the shitty point break was working proper and the once in five years left was also working for a few hours. Not a whole bunch out, but for sure these guys were not kooks.

Tuesday mid day was pumping. Solid swell, long sets and the crowd ranged from 3-6. Trade like winds across the outer face, but swell smoothing out the face as it hits the submerged point.

Still waves today. Head high or so, so not tiny, but a big drop from the Tuesday peak.

Erin lighting up the east coast this week. Supposed to go green friday morning in NJ. Hope my arms are ready after groveling all summer.

Was up in Maine coast w/ wife for anniversary trip last week. Turned out to be pretty good, and not nearly as much hype as was occurring further south. Was planning on going up to Ogunquit, but ended up surfing Long Sands in York which had enough wind protection and was quite empty compared to when I'm usually in NJ. Tues-Thursday Erin forerunners made for fun 2-3' and pretty glassy early. Brought my big board which enables my mostly ski/mtb wimpy upper body to maximize wave count.

Hopefully you had some good waves justo8484!

My yearly stint on the emerald Isle is nearly over. I got Erin here. 22 second forerunners made one of the rather meh reefs link up and wall real nicely ove only seen it 2 or three days like that in 7 years.. After that I went to more sheltered spots. May upload some pics in the future.

I'm at my favourite spot right now but 5 other traveler vans are here as well. In the summer there are usually less because every cool traveler comes in September but since summer hoidays are really late this year I got into the first week of September.

I'm debating to go the other spot where I've never seen other tourists. But I guess it'd be too small.

Surf came up in central CA. A few weeks ago we had a taste of fall. Yesterday it came in force. Week ahead looks solid swell wise.

Didn't wait around to catch a pic of someone actually surfing a wave. But you can see someone about to duck dive in the bottom left of the pic below. Clean lined up swell. Yes please.

                            Nice!!

It has actually been a couple of nice weekends in a row for me, which was somewhat unexpected.

Last weekend I surfed River Jetties, midday, both Saturday and Sunday. The tide was very high, but it stayed clean, and you could time the backwash to get in pretty easily. The crowd had thinned, probably scared of wind and tide, and as a result the sessions were fun and rather empty, at least for a sunny Saturday in Newport Beach. It was shoulder high, but with a bit of punch once you got down the line a bit. Both were days when I just wanted to paddle out, and they ended up being great days for wave count and good days for wave quality.

This weekend I headed north of the HB pier, both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was nice, but high tide and around chest-shoulder high. I brought a 7'4" funshape, and was really glad that I did. It was too soft for a standard board, but you could get in early with a funshape, do a couple of cutbacks and then get some great HB reform on the inside. It was crowded, but spread out, and it made for another great wavecount/good wave quality day. I'm really glad I brought the funshape, as it reminded me of just how much fun it can be on a softer day. The right shape really does make an average day much more fun. On a shortboard I would have been struggling and boggin, on the funshape I was gliding.

Sunday was almost an exact repeat of Saturday, except it was slightly bigger. I went out later, trying to time the tide, and got pretty much of a repeat of Saturday.

The water is still spring suit warm. That may change soon.

September was pretty great in these parts, as it often is.
