    Whatcha tying?

I didn't realize that tying could be just as addictive (and more expensive) than the fishing itself. The GF got me a vise and starter kit for xmas and I've been spending a lot of time on it since then. Pretty damn frustrating at first but it's starting to get to the point where it's relaxing zone out time. I'm sure some of you guys on here must be starting to stock up for the season.

I'll start out with one from tonight. Rabbit strip tail and tri color maribou head. It still needs eyes, I'm waiting on batteries for my UV light so for now this is how it sits. One of our local guides is a pretty big fan of this color combo, especially on bright days so I figured I'd tie some stuff up and give it a shot.

Awesome job! I was taking pics of what I've been tying and was going to start this thread...I haven't really been excited about skiing this year and have found myself tying a lot.

    ...pics to come

You guys are tying some nice stuff!! I lent my vise to the kid next door for a month or I'd be spinning flies too.

I like all the foam...and the condom worms...might need to tie some of those up myself!

Just wait till you catch one with a fly you tied. It's a damn good feeling!

I've been tying lots of small (#18-22) midges this winter. Copper johns, rainbow warriors, etc. Biggest stuff I've been trying is some #10 rubber leg stones. Working on my caddis but I can never seem to get the wings quite right. Once I get my camera back I'll get some pics up.

Been digging this site for learning new stuff to tie: http://www.thecatchandthehatch.com/

you had any luck with an emerger or adult midge patern? I couldn't get any interest the other day during a hatch on anything in my box.

I haven't been out this winter since the skiing has been good, but I've got some patterns that I use a ton and seem to do well during the summer/fall.

Hadn't seen that one before, thanks TheFugitive. Here's my sloppy attempt:

didn't have black crystal flash so I sub'd some angel hair. been tying a bunch of other tiny shit, midges in 20's and 22's. I probably need to go smaller than that but I'm not sure I have the patience for it.

Thats pretty close, can't say mine came out that good. There are a bunch of youtube videos on that pattern. I like the one from Curtis Fry Thinking about taking a fly tieing course up at Western Rivers sometime if I can't get there through youtube videos.

Funny story, last week I was at the rally for stream access at the utard capital. I'm standing there with my dog talking to some people when a group walks up and starts introducing themselves. One guy says "Hi, I'm Spencer Higa" . I'm not much for being star struck but I kinda geeked out and was telling him how good his pattern is. Super nice guy. Gave me some info on some Uinta S slope water. If I had teh $$ I would do a trip with him out at Falcons Ledge

If your at the mouth of the canyon we live close, should get out for some fishing or turns sometime....
